With the new versions of Dell’s Inspiron 13, 14 and 15 laptops come Intel’s Tiger Lake-H processors and Nvidia GeForce MX450 graphics on board for a clean performance boost. On top of that, there is a wide selection of memory and RAM options for the lineup.
CPU options – i3, i5 or i7 are available
Inside the new Inspiron lineup, different processors from Intel are at work, depending on the model. This replaces the old CPU options at the same time. Previously, there were Tiger Lake U processors and now Tiger Lake H processors are supposed to make an entrance. Only the base model with the i3 will remain with Tiger Lake U. The 14-inch model (5410) and the 15-inch model (5510) will get the i3-1115G4 processor and the 13-inch variant the slightly faster i3-1125G4. The i5 models use an 11300H processor and the i7 models use a 11370H processor.
Different memory options
The new Inspiron models in the 14- and 15-inch variants are particularly versatile; these have two upgradeable RAM slots. This means that capacities reach up to a maximum of 32 GB of DDR4-3200. In contrast, there are restrictions on the 13-inch model, as the LPDDR4x chip is soldered, limiting the capacity to 8 or 16 GB. In return, the 13-incher can shine with the storage options. It is the only model with NVMe SSDs with capacities of up to 2 TB. Optane modules with 32 GB and up to 1 TB SSD storage are also available. The two larger models cannot offer Optane modules and only have up to 1 TB NVMe SSDs. However, the Inspiron 15 offers a second SSD as an option.
Graphics options and ports
Graphics options differ among the three models depending on the processor. The Intel Core i3 uses integrated UHD graphics. In contrast, the models which are equipped with an i5 or i7 use the more powerful Iris Xe iGPU and can also be optionally equipped with the Nvidia GeForce MX450 dGPU. Dell’s Inspiron 14 and 15 feature a 1080p panel, whereas the Inspiron 13 is the only one with a 16:10 format with FHD+ or QHD+ resolution. The 13 incher also has a bit more to offer in terms of ports. It has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, a combined audio jack and HDMI. The two larger variants only have one Thunderbolt 4 port and that only in the i7 configuration. The other configurations of the larger models, on the other hand, only have one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2X2, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports and an SD card reader on board.
An HD webcam with shutter slider, a fingerprint sensor and Wi-Fi 6 are present in all configurations. Battery power is 54 Wh, and the Inspiron 13 has the option of a 64 Wh battery.
Availability and prices
All new Dell Inspiron models are available now from the Dell online store. There are still discounts here until 19.04., so the 13-incher is already available from 492 Euros in the standard configuration.
