From a purely visual perspective, the Dyson Zone ANC headphones could come straight out of a science fiction movie, which the company, which is primarily known for vacuum cleaners, has now officially presented. After all, this combines an over-ear headphone with an air purifier, which is positioned with a bracket over the mouth and nose.
Dyson Zone in detail
For six years now, the British company has been tinkering with the Dyson Zone headphones, which are now finally ready for the market and should appear in the fall of 2022. The over-ear headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC) already look futuristic, which is then confirmed by the additional earpiece in front of the face.
Dyson wants to improve the user’s air quality with the Zone, especially in polluted cities. The headset features a 2-stage air purification system that is capable of filtering both exhaust fumes and pollutants from the air in cities. The visor continuously directs a stream of purified air to the nose and mouth without touching the face.
This is to allow for natural and comfortable breathing without feeling constricted. If desired, the air purification unit can also be simply pushed down, whereupon the Dyson Zone switches to conversation mode, which turns off the air purifier.
Dyson promises true high-fidelity sound
The manufacturer has not yet revealed particularly many details about the Dyson Zone. At least on the announcement website a real high-fidelity sound including “State-of-the-Art Active Noisecancellation Technology” is promised.
Concrete details about the audio setup are currently not yet available, but at least they talk about particularly large drivers, which are supposed to be the “highest-quality drivers on the market”, which are supposed to realize a clear sound.
Details on the weight, battery life or volume of the air purifier Dyson has not yet revealed. The Dyson Zone is expected to be released in the fall of 2022, and it is not yet known how much the ANC headphones will cost.
