External SSD from Adata: SE770G with RGB lighting

Adata has introduced its new external SSD, the SE770G with RGB lighting, to keep things colourful. It uses USB 3.2 Gen 2 on the type C connector and offers up to 1 TB of storage space.

“Striking and brilliant” promises Adata

Adata focuses on the color play of its external SSD. With a generous RGB panel and the cube design, it should really stand out. It is up to 12.5 times faster than conventional external hard drives, with up to 1,000 MB/s read and 800 MB/s write speed. In addition, the SE770G has a balanced connection through USB type C connectivity. This means there are no problems when aligning the hard disk and the connection is immediately seated correctly. Which technology is used inside is not quite clear, it is probably supposed to be a PCIe SSD.

The SSD is even suitable for gamers, as the new SE770G can be easily connected to consoles to increase storage space or even shorten the loading times of games. The Adata SE770G supports all major operating systems such as Android (from 5.0), Windows (from 8), Linux (from 2.6) or MacOS (from 10.6). This means that users can access their data from multiple devices. If one wants to use the external hard disk with USB 2.0, the user should use a Y-cable that is not included in the delivery, because two cables are necessary for the power supply. With a weight of 136 grams and dimensions of 99.5 mm × 57.5 mm × 18 mm (L × W × H), it is not the smallest external hard drive, but it has a great color spectrum.

Availability and price

The new Adata SE770G comes with 512 GB or also with 1 TB. At which price and when the SSD is available is unfortunately not yet known.

The purchase includes a USB-C-to-USB-C and a USB-C-to-USB-A cable as well as a quick guide. The warranty is the meanwhile standardized three years.
