Gaming case from Aerocool – Aerocool Cronus

The new Aerocool case wants to stand out with a big “X” on the front. The Aerocool Cronus as a midi tower offers a lot of space for numerous high-end components inside.

Front stands out

Due to large “X” on the front, the Cronus is definitely eye-catching. At the same time, it is illuminated with LEDs and has some small openings to improve air circulation. Nevertheless, cooling records are not to be expected. Out of the box, the Aerocool Cronus only has a 140mm fan installed in the rear. This is also illuminated. Control is via a hub, which allows for a total of six fans with Aerocool’s 6-pin connectors and two ARGB elements with a 3-pin connector. Unfortunately, fans from other manufacturers cannot be used due to the idiosyncrasies. Additional fans find their place behind the front and under the lid of the Cronus. Radiators up to 240 mm can also be mounted here. Either two 140 mm or three 120 mm fans can be installed behind the front and two 140 mm or 120 mm fans are possible under the lid. It should be noted that there is only room for variants with a depth of 27 mm under the lid. There are two dust filters for this, one each in the lid and by the PSU. In total, the Aerocool Cronus holds 54.04 liters with dimensions of 468 x 230 x 502 mm (L x W x H) and a weight of 8.55 kg.

Features somewhat meager

Not only that ex-factory only one fan is on board but also a HDD cage is not present in the Cronus. If you want to re-equip the case, the bracket used on the Cronus has to be completely removed, as there are no individually removable bays. A total of six hard disks can be installed through the brackets. One 3.5 or 2.5 inch, two 3.5 inch and three additional 2.5 inch disks have room here. In return, the graphics card can also be installed vertically. It can have a length of 387 mm. The necessary riser cable is again not included. In return, the GPU is safe from dropping, since a bracket offers protection in every type of installation. As for the power supply, it has up to 223 mm of space inside. On the connectivity side, the Cronus offers an HD audio port and two USB 3.0 (USB 3.2 Gen 1) ports.

Availability and Price

The value for money is somewhat questionable, as other cases have more to offer ex-factory. However, the available space for the hardware and the design again speaks for the Aerocool Cronus, which is available now at a price starting at 90 euros.
