The Japanese automaker has unveiled its second all-electric car, the Honda e:Ny1. It aims to combine comfort, performance and technology in a B-segment e-SUV and rival the likes of the Polestar 3.
The Honda e:Ny1 in detail
With the Honda e:Ny1, we can expect a new e-SUV and even before the Honda Prologue, which the manufacturer introduced last October. The e:Ny1 is only the second all-electric vehicle from the Japanese company and starts in the B-segment of electric SUVs.
It is expected to score with a fresh look and modern technology. Technically, it is based on Honda’s e:N architecture F and comes with a front motor that delivers 160 kW of power with 310 Nm of torque.
A lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 68.8 kWh is installed under the floor, which should enable a range of up to 412 kilometers according to WLTP. A DC fast-charging function is offered, which charges the e:Ny1 from 0 to 80 percent in just 45 minutes.
In the announcement, Honda primarily describes the design, though you can get a better idea of it from photos. The chassis is said to have been improved in terms of torsional rigidity, including the use of high-strength steel, which is used in 47 percent of the Honda e:Ny1’s body.
According to Tom Gardner, senior vice president at Honda Motor Europe, the e:Ny 1is the next logical step on the road to electrification in Europe. The launch of the e-SUV is expected to take place in early 2024. However, further details and prices have not yet been announced.
