Honda Prologue: New E-SUV shows itself in first pictures

The Japanese automaker has unveiled its first all-electric SUV, the Honda Prologue, which was designed in Los Angeles. The Prologue is set to launch in 2024 and is expected to sit above the CR-V.

Honda Prologue: Manufacturer’s first e-SUV unveiled

With the Honda Prologue, you can expect the first all-electric SUV from the manufacturer from Japan, which is to be located as a top model above the CR-V. Now they have officially unveiled the exterior and interior design and confirmed a market launch for 2024.

The Prologue is based on a beefy appearance on the outside, which is called “neo-rugged”, and a generous amount of space on the inside. It aims to be a modern and fresh SUV with a clean and simple design.

For example, a panoramic roof and 21-inch tires are offered. The front end is inspired by the Honda e EV. The e-SUV is offered in an exclusive color called North Shore Pearl. Also eye-catching is the full Honda lettering on the rear of the e-SUV, replacing the previous logo.

With a wheelbase of 3.09 meters, it turns out larger than the new 2023 Honda CR-V and is also about 20 cm longer and about 12.7 cm (5 inches) wider. Inside, in addition to plenty of space, there is a fully digital instrument cluster measuring 11 inches, as well as an 11.3-inch infotainment system.

Availability of the Honda Prologue

The manufacturer hasn’t revealed many more details yet, but they plan to follow up in the coming weeks and months. The Honda Prologue was developed in partnership with General Motors and is scheduled to go on sale in 2024.

It marks a step toward the automaker’s all-electric future. By 2040, the company plans to offer only electric cars, in three phases. The Prologue is to be followed by new models based on the Honda e:architecture from 2026, and in 2027 the company is holding out the prospect of “a new range of affordable electric cars”, also developed jointly with GM.

Still in 2022, Honda is launching a joint venture with Sony under the name Sony Honda Mobility. Sony Honda Mobility’s first car is expected to be nothing less than a “high-end model” offering entertainment such as movies and video games. However, details are not yet available.
