HyperX Cloud Stinger 2 Wireless: New gaming headset with DTS Headphone:X

HyperX, the gaming peripherals division of HP Inc, has unveiled a new wireless gaming headset. The HyperX Cloud Stinger 2 Wireless comes as a wireless variant of the headset launched in September and combines its benefits with 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity.

HyperX Cloud Stinger 2 Wireless in detail

Unveiled in September, the Cloud Stinger 2 aims to score with an excellent price-performance ratio. It is now followed by the HyperX Cloud Stinger 2 Wireless, a corresponding wireless gaming headset that offers the same advantages, but communicates wirelessly via 2.4 GHz band.

From a technical point of view, both models rely on the same specifications. The wireless version also uses 50 mm drivers that provide virtual surround sound with DTS Headphone:X Virtual Spatial Audio. However, the covered frequency response of 10 Hz to 20,200 Hz is not quite as high as in the case of the wired headset.

“The new Cloud Stinger 2 Wireless offers gamers high-quality design and comfort, as well as an immersive DTS Headphone:X sound experience, at an affordable price without cable interference,” said Bianca Walter, business manager at HyperX EMEA.

High comfort meets 20 hours of battery life

Thanks to soft memory foam and high-quality faux leather, the HyperX Cloud Stinger 2 Wireless promises a high level of wearing comfort and is said to turn out both robust and durable.

The headset connects to the PC via a 2.4 GHz receiver and allows a range of up to 20 meters. With a weight of 289 grams, it is in the average range for wireless gaming headsets.

According to the manufacturer, the battery life should be up to 20 hours (measured at 50 percent volume), which marks a rather average value. Especially when you consider that the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless is a model that lasts for 300 hours. However, that also costs around 100 euros more.
