iPhone SE+: Rumor speaks of new name for iPhone SE 3

A well-informed analyst spreads new rumors about the iPhone SE 3. Apple’s budget smartphone is supposed to be called iPhone SE+ and come with a 4.7-inch LC display. A larger display and design will not follow until next year.

iPhone SE+ to replace iPhone SE 3

Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, is usually considered a trusted source of new rumors in Apple circles. Now Young has once again spoken out about the iPhone SE 3 via Twitter.

Apple’s new budget smartphone, which according to other rumors will be launched as early as spring 2022, will be called iPhone SE+. This is somewhat unusual, since Plus models have so far only been reserved for Apple’s “big” smartphones.

Young also believes that Apple will stick to the design of the iPhone 8 generation for the iPhone SE+. The smartphone is supposed to have a 4.7-inch LCD screen. At least technically, the new SE has improved, thanks to the Apple A15 Bionic processor and an integrated 5G modem.

Fourth generation as early as 2023

The real design revolution will follow next year, when Apple is expected to launch the iPhone SE 4, according to Young – and not as late as 2024. That should, according to the analyst, rely on a screen diagonal of 5.7 inches or 6.1 inches, making it similar in size to the current iPhone 13.

If the rumor proves to be true, it could actually mean that Apple will discontinue the mini smartphone models, such as the iPhone 13 mini with a 5.4-inch screen diagonal, and allow the SE series to dominate the compact smartphone market.
