Lenovo extends CO² offset service

Sustainability is also playing an increasingly important role in the tech industry. After all, the production of IT components also releases a lot of CO², which has negative ecological consequences. Accordingly, Lenovo has been offering its customers the option of compensation for quite some time in order to keep the ecological footprint as small as possible. The so-called CO² offset service is now being expanded even further.

Purchasing a laptop with a good conscience

Anyone who buys a Lenovo device from the Legion or Yoga series can now do so without a guilty conscience. After all, Lenovo now offers its business customers an extended option for offsetting harmful carbon dioxide. While this only applied to selected premium notebooks so far, you can now also contribute to protecting the environment with classic consumer PCs. This makes the company a pioneer in the IT sector. After all, we have only known corresponding models from airlines or other obvious “climate killers” so far.

Emissions to be reduced as far as possible

In the meantime, a good CO² balance is not only part of a good tone for a successful tech company from a marketing point of view. Sooner or later, it is also likely to become expensive to pollute the environment too much with CO². High taxes or even fines are likely to be the result. By the way, this does not only apply to the production side. Companies that use such services also have an interest in compensating as far as possible in order to keep a clean slate. Apart from that, it’s in all of our interests that the planet suffers as little as possible as a result of industry. Andrej Durasinovic, Executive Director, International Consumer Services, Solutions & Services Group at Lenovo comments:

“Lenovo has set its own science-based emissions reduction targets and recognizes the importance of global efforts to mitigate climate change. The launch of our carbon offset service was always intended to support our customers in their own sustainability efforts, and we are proud to now extend that support beyond the commercial sector to our residential customers. This is now another part of our ambitious transformation to become a service and solutions provider.”

CO² Offset Service very successful so far

Lenovo itself makes it clear that offsetting has proven to be an extremely successful model so far. Thus, they have already offset more than 500,000 tons of CO² in the meantime. If your company is about to make a bulk purchase of new Lenovo Think PCs, you can already take advantage of the commendable CO² Offset Service. In English-speaking countries, this will be extended to Legion PCs and Yoga PCs in January 2022. However, these devices will soon be covered by the offset option in this country as well.
