Lenovo ThinkBook 16P NX: Notebook with AMD Ryzen 6000H and RTX 3050 Ti

Just in May, Lenovo introduced numerous new notebooks, including the powerful ThinkPad X13 G3. Now, another laptop follows with the Lenovo ThinkBook 16P NX, which is the successor of the popular 16P Gen 2.

The Lenovo ThinkBook 16P NX: info and details

With the new Lenovo ThinkBook 16P NX, the manufacturer mainly focuses on detail improvements. The build height shrinks to 17.7 mm compared to the predecessor (dimensions: 356.4 x 251.8 x 17.7 mm), the weight is 1.9 kg.

While an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 was still working in the 16P Gen 2, Lenovo equips the new edition with a more frugal graphics chip. The ThinkBook 16P NX is offered in three variants, with a maximum of an RTX 3050 Ti. There are also models with the GeForce GTX 1650 or the GeForce RTX 3050.

There are also differences in terms of the CPU, whereby Lenovo relies on the AMD 6000H series in each case. Here, the AMD Ryzen 5 6600H with six cores and 12 threads or the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H with eight cores and 16 threads are available.

In combination with the 75 Wh battery and the frugal AMD CPUs, the Lenovo ThinkBook 16P NX should be able to convince in terms of battery life. In local 1080p video playback at 150 nits brightness, all models are supposed to last up to 16.7 hours. In the MobileMark 2018 benchmark, the notebook gets up to 10.6 hours of runtime.

Display and Features

The working memory, on the other hand, is limited to 16 GB LPDDR5-6400 RAM. It is soldered to the motherboard and can neither be exchanged nor expanded. In addition, there is a choice of 512 GB or 1 TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0×4 NVMe memory.

There are also differences in the display, whereby the cheapest model with GeForce GTX 1650 and Ryzen 5 has to do without a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In contrast, the two larger models offer a corresponding panel.

Basically, all three variants of the ThinkBook 16P NX use a matte 16-inch WQXGA display with a resolution of 2660 x 1600 pixels. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio and a maximum brightness of 350 nits. The sRGB color space is completely covered.

Other features include two 2-watt stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a Full HD webcam with privacy shutter, which is supplemented by an IR camera for Windows Hello login. There is also a dedicated fingerprint scanner.

  • 1x HDM (up to 4K/60Hz)
  • 1x SD card reader
  • 1x 3.5mm jack connector (combined for headphone and microphone)
  • 1x power connector

Can it be a little smaller? The Lenovo ThinkBook 13s Gen 4 is scheduled to launch in June 2022.

Prices and availability

When the ThinkBook 16P NX will launch is as yet unknown, as is what the notebook variants will cost. So far, only the spec sheets of the three models are available, which you can get directly from the manufacturer.
