Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024: 980g lightweight notebook with Intel Core Ultra 9

Huawei is relaunching its own ultrabook, the MateBook X Pro. The Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024 is just 13.5 mm high and weighs a mere 980 grams. Nevertheless, the notebook scores with powerful features such as a 3.2K OLED display and Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor.

The compact Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024 aims to compete with the MacBook Air and Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra (our test) with modern top features. The Chinese manufacturer equips the ultrabook with an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H with 16 cores and up to 5.1 GHz or the Core Ultra 7 155H, which is supported by 32 GB or 16 GB of RAM and up to 2 terabytes of system memory, depending on the model.

Huawei supplements the AI functions of the Intel Meteor Lake chips with its own Pangu AI model, which can, for example, quickly extract important details and create summaries from audio, video and real-time logs.

In terms of the display, the MateBook X Pro uses a 14.2-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3,120 x 2,080 pixels in 3:2 format and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It has a typical brightness of 1,000 cd/m² and offers a color accuracy of Delta E<1.

The slim, just 13.5 mm high casing of the 980 gram Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024 houses a 70 Wh battery that can be charged quickly with up to 140 watts. In terms of connections, there are two Thunderbolt 4 ports and one USB-C port.

There is no jack connection, but there is a privacy shutter for the 1080p webcam. The equipment is rounded off by Wi-Fi ax and Bluetooth 5.3.

Price and availability

The Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024 has so far only been presented for the Chinese market, but should soon find its way to Europe. The ultrabook will be launched in China on April 18 starting at 11,199 yuan, which is equivalent to around 1,442 euros. The top model with Core Ultra 9, 32 GB RAM and 2 TB system memory costs 15,998 yuan (just under 2,060 euros). The MateBook X is available in blue, black and beige.
