The Lenovo ThinkPad C14 Chromebook in detail

The Lenovo ThinkPad C14 is a new Chromebook from the manufacturer that is primarily designed for business use. The device, which relies on Google’s Chrome OS operating system, is equipped with a 14-inch Full HD IPS display, which is optionally available with 250 nits brightness or as a touchscreen with 300 nits.

The 1.56 kg device is also equipped with an Intel processor up to a maximum of the 12th generation Intel Core i7, as well as up to 16 GB LPDDR4 working memory. In terms of system memory, up to 128 GB is available as eMMC and 256 GB SSD storage.

With dimensions of 325.4 mm x 217 mm x 19.83 mm (width x depth x height), the Chromebook turns out quite compact. Nevertheless, a 57 Wh battery is at work inside, which can be charged quickly with a power of up to 65 watts.

High security, good features

High security takes an important place in the Lenovo ThinkPad C14. Thus, the combination of Lenovo ThinkShield, Intel vPro, Titan C and Chrome OS is supposed to be an “unbeatable combination for unshakable security” according to the manufacturer.

The whole thing is combined with physical and biometric systems, such as a webcam with privacy shutter and an optional finger pressure sensor in the power button. The case of the C14 is also manufactured according to the MIL-STD-810H military standard and is thus supposed to be particularly robust.

In terms of ports, there are two USB-A ports in the 3.2 standard, two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, one HDMI, a combined 3.5 mm audio port and a microSD card reader. Wirelessly, the ThinkPad C14 communicates via Wi-Fi 6E or optionally via LTE (CAT9) in combination with a nano-SIM card.

Price and availability

The Lenovo ThinkPad C14 is scheduled to reach retailers in August 2022. The manufacturer’s MSRP is 479 euros. More details can be found on the official product website.
