Motorola has really stepped on the gas in the past year and released a whole series of exciting smartphones. Now, the successor of the edge 30 pro is waiting for us, which is called motorola edge 40 pro and has a lot to offer.

“With the new motorola edge40 pro, Motorola combines cutting-edge technology and a unique design in a premium smartphone and thus meets all the requirements that our customers have for a top smartphone”, says Björn Simski, Director and General Manager of Motorola Germany and Austria.

The new model presents itself again with an edge-to-edge display that is curved on all sides. It also comes with an anti-fingerprint coating that is supposed to effectively minimize fingerprints. An anti-reflective, velvety glass finish on the back and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus speak for a robust smartphone. It is IP68 rated against dust and water and can last up to 30 minutes in fresh water.

Motorola installs a 6.67-inch Full HD+ POLED display that comes with a refresh rate of 165 hertz. Under the hood is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which brings 35% more CPU performance, 25% more GPU performance, and 40% more power efficiency compared to the previous model.

12 gigabytes of fast LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 system memory are also on offer. This makes it clear that they want to take on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra again this year.

Focus again on strong cameras

Motorola has once again chosen the cameras as a core feature of the motorola edge 40 pro. While the predecessors were already convincing here, the new model steps it up even more. The high-resolution 50MP camera features OIS (optical image stabilizer) and the instant all-pixel focus – which offers 32x more focusing pixels compared to conventional PDAF – ensures fast autofocus.

There’s also a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera with Macro Vision and a 12MP portrait camera with 2x telephoto lens. For selfies, the edge40 pro has a 60MP camera with the Snapdragon Cognitive Image Signal Processor, which uses advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to divide each scene into different segments. This ensures that elements such as the sky, buildings, landscapes, and skin tones are optimized independently for greater color accuracy and a more lifelike photo.

The main camera also allows videos in 8K resolution or in 4K HDR10+. Added to this are some exciting software features like a video portrait mode, a video night vision mode, video autofocus tracking and Horizon Lock stabilization.

The latter feature allows for perfect shots even when the camera is rotated up to 360° because you’re moving yourself while shooting – all video stays aligned on the horizontal axis.

Charges at 125 watts

The motorola edge 40 pro is equipped with a 4,600 mAh battery that can be charged with 125 watts via USB-C. Wirelessly, 15 watts are still possible. The smartphone is fully charged in just 24 hours via cable.

The edge40 pro offers a comprehensive set of security features, including ThinkShield, Moto Secure and Family Space. ThinkShield protects the phone from malware, phishing and other threats at all levels, while Moto Secure serves as a one-stop shop for privacy and security to verify device protection across Android and Motorola apps and settings.
