The new Nothing Phone (1) is poised to be one of, if not the most exciting smartphone of the second half of 2022. After a first hands-on video a few days ago, most of the specifications and even the prices for Europe have now been leaked.
Nothing Phone (1): specs details and info
Long before the official unveiling on July 12, all details about the upcoming Nothing Phone (1) are actually known by now. However, the first smartphone of former OnePlus founder Carl Pei will not be a real flagship.
The website RootMyGalaxy first reported the specifications of the smartphone in the Nothing Phone (1) leak, which have since been confirmed by many other sources. According to that, Nothing relies on the Snapdragon 778G+ SoC, which speaks for a mid-range performance. In addition, there is a choice of 8 GB or 12 GB LPDDR5 working memory, and 128 GB or 256 GB UFS 3.1 system storage.
The battery capacity is supposed to be 4,500 mAh, and the device can be fast-charged with a maximum of 45 watts. Thus, the battery should be able to be charged to 50 percent in 30 minutes. Reverse wireless charging, on the other hand, is possible with a maximum of 5 watts.
Here, for example, the Nothing Ear 1 headphones can be powered. As is now common, however, the manufacturer does not include a power supply unit in the scope of delivery.
Cameras, speakers and other details of the Nothing Phone (1)
The Nothing Phone (1), which weighs just under 200 grams, relies on a dual-camera system on the back that is supposed to consist of a 50-megapixel (f/1.8 aperture) main camera and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (114-degree field of view).
Videos can be recorded in 4K with up to 60 frames per second. On the front, a 16-megapixel selfie camera is located in a punch hole in the upper left corner.
According to the leak from Twitter user Mukul Sharma, the smartphone uses a 6.55-inch OLED panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Furthermore, there is talk of stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
The operating system is Nothing OS based on Android 12, which is supposed to come without bloatware but with “Bespoke Widgets”. The Nothing Phone (1) will apparently be available in both white and black, as official renders confirm.
Tech-YouTuber Dave2D was also able to put his hands on the smartphone in an exciting hands-on video and provides first impressions. Also of the already known Glyph interface and the ringtones that make the lighting shine in unison.
Nothing Phone (1) Price and Availability
Amazon Germany had also briefly leaked the pricing and release date of the Nothing Phone (1). In the meantime, however, the product websites have already been taken offline again. However, Twitter user Techdroider was still able to take screenshots.
According to these, the smartphone will launch on October 26, 2022, with a price tag of at least €469.99 for the model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of system storage. A doubling of the UFS 3.1 storage hits the bill at 499.99 Euros, while the top model is listed at 549.99 Euros and combines 12 GB of RAM with 256 GB of system storage. Furthermore, there is apparently also a bundle of the mid-range smartphone version and the Nothing Ear (1) headphones for 596.98 Euros.
The question is what surprises Carl Pei and his team have up their sleeves for the launch of the Nothing Phone (1) on July 12. We are curious.
