ok., the own brand of MediaMarkt and Saturn, offers a total of seven Android TVs that aim to impress as smart entertainment centers in the living room with high resolutions at fair prices.

ok. Android TVs: from 24 inches to 65 inches

A total of seven ok. Android TVs can be found in the MediaMarkt and Saturn portfolio, with the last of the bunch, the ODL 43950UC-TAB, not being available until July 2022. They offer access to more than 400,000 movies and series, as well as thousands of apps in the Google Play Store.

The TVs have a resolution in HD-ready, Full HD or Ultra HD and offer an excellent price-performance ratio as well as voice control via Google Assistant and versatile connectivity options. Android TVs offer more functions than classic smart TVs and combine the advantages with a simple menu navigation.

Android TVs also support Google’s Chromecast technology, which lets you stream video and audio content directly from your smartphone to the TV. Thanks to Google Play Store, you also have a much larger selection of apps at your disposal. IP-based TV for receiving programs from all over the world is also available.

The operation of the ok. Android TVs is similar to that of an Android smartphone and is correspondingly simple, since the same operating system is used. In addition, it is possible to mirror the screen of an end device wirelessly on the Android TV – not only with Android devices.

Differences to normal TV, smart TV and Fire TV

Normal TVs without Internet are now only available in small sizes up to a maximum of 32 inches. That’s the primary difference on a non-technical level – but for many users, that’s now crucial, as they want ever-larger screens. In addition, apps cannot be downloaded via normal, analog TVs.

Compared to normal smart TVs, Android TVs offer significantly more apps, at least if you have a Google account. Using a Fire TV like the new Xioami F2, on the other hand, requires an Amazon account if you want to use apps. However, not all apps are compatible with Fire TVs.

The only requirement for Android TVs is an active Internet connection. At least if you want to use the broad app catalog. Of course, a satellite, cable or antenna connection is required for normal, classic TV.

Via the Google Home app, owners of Apple iPhones can also enjoy the benefits of ok. Android TVs. Once downloaded, all functions are then also available.

What is the right inch size?

The right screen size depends on the screen resolution and the sitting distance from the device. With a 4K resolution, the seating distance may be less than with normal HD resolutions
