OXS Thunder Pro: Compact Dolby Atmos gaming soundbar presented

The OXS Thunder Pro ( ) aims to realize true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos sound in a compact soundbar. In addition to the PC, the audio solution also offers connectivity for consoles and TVs.

The OXS Thunder Pro in detail

In 2022, manufacturer OXS financed the Thunder, a compact and powerful Dolby Atmos soundbar, via Kickstarter and significantly exceeded the funding target of HK$ 100,000 with around HK$ 1.8 million in the end.

Now the OXS Thunder Pro and Thunder Pro, the successor, are ready to significantly expand the possibilities of the first product. Not much has changed in terms of design and size: with dimensions of 608 x 122 x 78 mm, the soundbar is extremely compact and has an output of 90 watts, with a peak output of 180 watts.

The manufacturer packs six speakers into this slim housing, which are also directed forwards and upwards, and two 2.5-inch woofers to provide a rich bass. These eight drivers offer a frequency response of 75 Hz to 90 Hz and are designed to produce genuine Dolby Atmos sound. The sound can also be adjusted to different game genres using an equalizer.

Extensive connectivity

Another special feature of the OXS Thunder Pro is its extensive connectivity. In addition to AUX In and an HDMI connection, the soundbar also has a USB-C and USB-A port, as well as an additional HDMI eARC connection, which should also make it suitable for games consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S and can be controlled via the TV remote control.

End devices can be connected wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0, while a microphone can also be connected via a 3.5 mm jack. The soundbar is operated via a dedicated rotary control, which can be used to adjust the volume and equalizer or change the source.

The OXS Thunder Pro also relies on an additional wireless speaker in the form of a neck cushion, which adds two more channels and thus aims to create real 3D sound. It transmits via 5.8G without any noticeable latency.

The OXS Thunder Pro gaming soundbar will soon be available directly from the manufacturer at a price of 599.99 US dollars. The Thunder Pro with neck speaker starts at 699.99 US dollars, whereby the neck speaker can also be ordered separately for 159.99 USD.
