Porsche Design PDB90: New premium soundbar with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

Another new product from Porsche Design. After precious in-ear headphones and the premium display released together with AOC, you can expect the Porsche Design PDB90, a high-end soundbar that realizes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X in 5.1.2 channels.

If you’re currently looking for a new soundbar and have the wherewithal, the Porsche Design PDB90 might be worth a look. Once again, the design brand relies on an equally simple and high-quality appearance, which is combined with high-quality technology.

Thus, 16 drivers including an integrated subwoofer work inside the PDB890 and are supposed to offer an outstanding sound quality. Together with the upward-facing speakers, which are also rotated by 20 degrees, an incomparable 3D sound should be possible.

With 5.1.2 channels, the soundbar supports high-resolution playback in Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound formats via the high-speed HDMI-eARC connection. The front speakers are equipped with midrange and tweeter speakers, so-called MTMT components. This allows configuration in MTM or TMM mode for high-fidelity sound.

Preconfigured sound modes

The Porsche Design PDB90 soundbar offers four pre-configured modes – movie, music, speech and stadium – that allow the acoustics to be adjusted at the touch of a button. In the “Speech” mode, podcasts and voice-heavy content should come across particularly well, while the other modes are aimed at cineastes, music or sports fans.

In total, two HDMI ports, a USB-A port, an optical input and the connection for the subwoofer are available on the rear. The soundbar measures 88 mm x 210 mm x 1200 mm and weighs around 7 kg. In addition to the HDMI connection, a connection via Bluetooth is also possible.

The PDB90 is operated with the help of an included remote control. The most important functions, such as on/off and volume control, can also be operated intuitively via touch buttons on the side of the soundbar.

Price and Availability

The Porsche Design PDB90 Dolby Atmos soundbar is available now from Porsche Design stores, retailers and the manufacturer’s webshop. However, with an MSRP of 999.00 Euros, the playback device is not exactly a bargain either.
