With the Razer Blade 18 (2024), the manufacturer has presented its latest gaming laptop, which is intended to replace the desktop PC thanks to its large 4K display. It scores with modern features and can even be configured with a GeForce RTX 4090 at the top end. The laptop is also available in Razer’s popular white Mercury color scheme.
Razer Blade 18: powerful desktop replacement
Razer is updating last year ‘s Blade 18 gaming notebook to the 2024 model generation, bringing some exciting improvements with it. The star of the show is of course the large 18-inch display, which is available in three variants.
This is available either as a QHD mini LED display (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) with a frame rate of 300 Hz or as a UHD display (2,840 x 2,400 pixels) with 200 Hz. According to the manufacturer, the latter configuration is even a world first.
The display is calman verified and covers the DCI-P3 color space 100 percent. According to Razer, the maximum brightness is 400 nits for the 4K display, while the QHD counterpart is even brighter up to 1,000 nits thanks to the mini LED. The response time is under 3.0 ms for both variants.
The dimensions of 21.90 mm x 275.40 mm x 399.90 mm and the weight of 3.10 kg are identical for all variants, making the notebook quite portable despite its sheer size.
The processor used is the Intel Core i9-14900HX with 24 cores and clock speeds of up to 5.8 GHz, which Razer provides with 32 GB or 64 GB of fast DDR5-5600 RAM and a 1 TB, 2 TB or 4 TB SSD. RAM and system memory can also be expanded and upgraded. A maximum of 96 GB RAM and 8 TB system memory is possible.
The GPU can also be configured, with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 with 8 GB VRAM, an RTX 4080 with 12 GB VRAM or even the top model in the form of the GeForce RTX 4090 with 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM to choose from.
Top features and large battery
Razer has given the Blade 18 a keyboard without a numeric keypad, which comes with per-key RGB lighting including Razer Chroma and N-key rollover. The gaming notebook communicates wirelessly using the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, and Bluetooth 5.4 is also included. There are also 6 THX Spatial Audio speakers and a 5 MP webcam.
The connections are also modern and even include a Thunderbolt 5 port. This offers 3x more bandwidth than Thunderbolt 4 and allows up to three 4K screens to be connected. It can also charge with up to 100 watts thanks to PowerDelivery. Further connections:
- 3 USB ports (Type A, 3.2, Gen 2)
