Sony Xperia 1 V: New camera flagship smartphone unveiled
At the same time as the mid-range smartphone Xperia 10 V, Sony also unveiled its new flagship. The Sony Xperia 1 V wants to score especially with its 4K display, excellent performance and impressive cameras.
The Sony Xperia 1 V in detail
Exactly one year after the Xperia 1 IV, Sony now presented the successor of its own flagship smartphone. Like the predecessor, the Sony Xperia 1 V also relies on excellent cameras that were developed together with the company’s own Alpha camera division. It is the first smartphone to feature a newly developed Stacked CMOS image sensor with 2-layer transistor pixels.
This is said to ensure that people, landscapes and scenes can be depicted with rich colors and fine textures even in low light. In low light, the Mark V is said to perform around twice as well as its predecessor.
“Combined with the Xperia 1 V’s high-speed multi-frame overlay processing technology, this high performance allows you to capture low-noise photos with a wider dynamic range that rivals that of a full-frame camera,” Sony promises.
The main lens comes with a focal length of 24 millimeters and uses the “Exmor T for mobile” stacked CMOS image sensor, which is around 1.7 times larger than its predecessor. In addition, there is a zoom lens with true optical zoom that allows a focal length of 85-125 mm (F2.3-F2.8).
Videos are supposed to reproduce skin tones particularly accurately thanks to the S-Cinetone color profile. In addition, the new sensor offers a saturation level around three times higher than the conventional sensor, while image noise is effectively suppressed.
Many features of professional Alpha cameras are used in the Xperia 1 V, including real-time autofocus, real-time eye AF and real-time tracking. Continuous shooting is possible at up to 30 frames per second including AF tracking.
Display, CPU and features
The Sony Xperia 1 V relies on a 6.5-inch OLED display including 4K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. The latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is used as the CPU, which promises excellent performance with strong efficiency.
Sony also promises to have the problems with battery life and heat development under control this time: Up to 40 percent more energy efficiency and 20 percent less power consumption during camera use are promised, while the volume of the heat-dissipating film has been increased by about 60 percent to improve heat dissipation.
The smartphone measures 165 mm x 71 mm x 8.3 mm and weighs 187 grams. 12 GB of RAM ensures a high computing speed, while 256 GB of UFS system storage is available, which can be expanded via microSD card.
The Xperia 1 V is dual-SIM capable and comes with Android 13. The battery offers a capacity of 5,000 mAh and is charged via USB Type-C. The battery supports wireless charging and can be charged up to 50% in 30 minutes with the fast charging function. In addition, the battery is said to still have over 80 percent of its original capacity even after 3 years.
