Strøm Bikes City M 2.0: E-bike launches with a hefty discount

You have an eye on the noble and puristic e-bike VanMoof S5, but it is just too expensive for you? With the Strøm Bikes City M 2.0, the manufacturer from Denmark offers an alternative at a much lower price, at least for now.

If you’re looking for an affordable city e-bike in the style of the VanMoof S5, you might find what you’re looking for in the Strøm Bikes City M 2.0, or rather the City W including a low step-in. Via the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, you can currently secure the e-bike in chic design with a hefty discount for just under half the price that the Dutch template is charging.

The model for Germany thereby complies with the regulations applicable in this country and can be legally ridden in road traffic. Specifically, there is a pedal assistance up to a maximum of 25 km/h, which is realized by a rear-wheel motor with 250 watts of power and a torque of 45 Nm. Alternatively, but for us little interesting, there is the bike from Denmark also with 400 watts of power and a maximum of 32 km/h.

The features of the Strøm Bikes City M 2.0

With regard to the battery, the Strøm offers a choice of two variants, whereby even the larger 14 Ah battery (504 watt hours) only realizes a range of 80 km. The standard battery from LG, which is integrated into the down tube, comes on the other hand only to 10.4 Ah (375 watt hours) and a range of 60 km. The removable battery is fully charged in about 4-5 hours. The “Go futher” battery costs an additional 80 euros.

The 22 kg Strøm Bikes City M 2.0 is offered in the colors black and white, as well as in two sizes. Size M is aimed at riders between 158 and 178 cm, while size L is intended for people with a height between 178 cm and 210 cm.

Other features include an LED color display, integrated lighting, puncture-resistant tires, 160mm diameter Tektro disc brakes and 7-speed Shimano gears.

Prices and availability

And the best news: the Strøm Bikes City M 2.0 as well as the low-entry City W are available, at least on Indiegogo, starting at 1,095 euros and thus with a 45 percent discount. However, it is important to be quick, because at least on the official homepage a timer points to the end of the discount campaign in about three days.

There, the bike is already priced at at least 1,429 euros, while the manufacturer’s RRP is supposed to be around 2,000 euros. The delivery will probably start in August 2022.
