Three new gaming notebooks from Gigabyte: Aorus 15P, 17G and 17X are coming

Gigabyte has introduced three new gaming notebooks. The models from the Aorus series are equipped with the new Intel Tiger Lake-H processors.

New Intel processors

With the release of the new Intel Tiger Lake H45 processors, a whole range of new laptops are now coming onto the market. Now Gigabyte is also following suit and polishing up its Aorus series. Newly released are the Aorus 15P, the 17G and the 17X gaming laptop, which comes with an i9.

Gigabyte Aorus 15P

The Aorus 15P is the smallest of the three new gaming laptops at 15 inches. It comes in at just 2.2 kg with dimensions of 357 x 244 x 27 mm (W × D × H). In the highest configuration, it comes with an Intel Core i7-11800H with eight cores and a maximum of 4.6 GHz. The processor can also be supported by up to a maximum of 64 GB of DDR4-3200.

An Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 with 16 GB VRAM can be used for the graphics. A maximum of 130 watts (TGP) of the notebook GPU is possible. Depending on the cooling and the device class, a power consumption of up to 165 watts is feasible according to Nvidia. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 with 8 GB graphics memory makes a start, and it can permanently consume a maximum of 130 watts.

Gigabyte Aorus 17G

On par with the Aorus 15P is the 17G, regardless of CPU, GPU or RAM. However, the graphics card only manages 105 watts of electrical power in the small configuration with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070. Therefore, the case of the 17G with a dimension of 405 x 276 x 26 mm (W × D × H) is also flatter than that of the Aorus 15P. Overall, the 17 incher has a weight of about 2.7 kg.

Gigabyte Aorus 17X

Last but not least comes the Aorus 17X, which is considered the top-of-the-line model. The manufacturer goes as far as it can with the performance here. Inside works an Intel Core i9-11980HK, which reaches a boost clock of 5 GHz and can be overclocked even further above that. On top of that, there is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 with 16 GB graphics memory, which works with 165 watts at its peak. The top model weighs 3.8 kg and measures 396 x 293 x 38 mm (W × D × H).

Differences in displays

It’s not just the processors where the three new gaming notebooks differ from each other, but also the display. The Aorus 15P has a 360 Hz fast panel on board or can optionally be equipped with a slow 240 Hz panel. Both offer a Full HD resolution and reproduce 72 percent of the NTSC color space. The two 17 inchers, on the other hand, get a 300 Hz IPS panel, with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The color space coverage is also 72 percent for this one.

Connections

There are only minor differences when it comes to the ports. For starters, all three have at least three USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Git/s), HDMI 2.1, 2.5 Gbit LAN, Wi-Fi 6, and brand new Thunderbolt 4 via a USB Type-C port. The Aorus 15P and 17G also have a mini-DisplayPort. The Aorus 17X, on the other hand, has a second USB-C port.

Availability and pricing

It has not yet been announced when Gigabyte will launch the relaunched gaming notebooks and at what prices.
