Unihertz Jelly 2E: Ultra-compact 3-inch smartphone with powerful features

Manufacturer Unihertz is known for its unusual smartphones. In April 2022, they presented the Titan Slim, a particularly thin device with a physical keyboard. The new Unihertz Jelly 2E goes in a completely different direction: with its 3-inch display, the compact device is aimed at all those for whom even an iPhone 13 Mini and co are still too big.

The Unihertz Jelly 2E in detail

The Unihertz Jelly 2E, which is an extended version of the similarly sized Jelly 2, wants to be a “mini Android 12 smartphone with full functionality”. Weighing just 110 grams, the smartphone is equipped with a 3.0-inch (or small) display that fits in even the smallest hands or pockets.

It aims to be the perfect choice for a minimalist lifestyle without sacrificing features. Inside, a 2,000 mAh battery is at work, which is supposed to achieve a standby time of over three days. However, the runtime is rather poor during active use. Five and a half hours of LTE streaming and nine and a half hours of music playback are possible.

The most important features are on board

Thanks to Android 12, you get access to the Google Play Store along with all its apps, games, music and more. The Unihertz Jelly 2E also offers a programmable button that lets you quickly open an app.

This is joined by a 3.5 mm jack for connecting to headphones and headsets. An all-in-one IR remote for controlling TVs and much more is also offered, as well as two SIM card slots – one of which can even be equipped with a microSD card to expand the memory.

The Unihertz Jelly 2E is equipped with 4 GB of working memory and 64 GB of system memory. The MediaTek Helio A20 MT6761 is used as the SoC, which has four Cortex A53 cores. It has already been around for about four years – so you should not expect an outstanding performance.

Also offered is a fingerprint scanner on the back, as well as an unspecified camera. A GNSS module with GPS, Glonass, Beidou and Galileo support is also offered.

Price and Availability

The ultra-compact Unihertz Jelly 2E smartphone is expected to be available soon at a price of around $170. In pre-sale, the price can even be pushed down to 139.99 US dollars thanks to additional discounts.
