Wiko Y81: Enduring low-budget smartphone is coming

The new Wiko Y81 promises the user two days of battery life. The 4000 mAh strong battery of the latest smartphone made in France is supposed to provide for it. But besides the long-lasting battery, Wiko also wants to score with other specifications. Thus the favorable Smartphone offers a large display and sufficient storage space.

Display in XL format

Actually we know Wiko for handy smartphones. But with the Y81, the manufacturer wants to launch an attack on the competition with large displays. Thus, the French give their latest protégé a proud 6.22 inch screen diagonal. The manufacturer promises, however, that the size will not be at the expense of comfort. An aspect ratio of 19:9 is supposed to ensure this. This should make it easy to hold the smartphone in your hand. The large display should also come across sufficiently sharp thanks to HD+ resolution. An IPS panel should provide for stable viewing angles.

Sufficient memory

In the meantime, we have arrived at an age in which smartphones sometimes offer storage capacity in the terabyte range. Here, Wiko can’t keep up with the Y81. But the French don’t seem to want that at all. Ex works, the smartphone with 32 GB probably offers enough storage space for the main target group of potential buyers. If you want more, you can easily upgrade it. After all, the Wiko Y81 fortunately offers the possibility of 256 GB of additional storage space via MicroSD card.

Long battery life and beautiful design

The Wiko Y81 uses a 4000 mAh battery. And this one should have it in itself. According to the manufacturer, the Wiko Y81 should be able to last up to two days with only one complete battery charge. This will please many charging muffle. Apart from endurance, the Wiko Y81 should also convince in terms of design. According to the first pictures, this seems to be the case. The cheap smartphone certainly doesn’t look like a “cheap mobile phone”. Quite the opposite. The combination of a matt finish and the thin screen edges create a modern design. The colors are also convincing at first glance. Besides deep blue, you should also have the choice between gold and a shade of green.

Focus on usability

Let’s not kid ourselves. Smartphones from Wiko are not for die-hard technology enthusiasts. But the manufacturer does not want to reach this group. Much more interesting for Wiko are those groups of buyers who want a smartphone that is as uncomplicated as possible without having to spend a lot of money on it. Accordingly, the Wiko Y81 offers some user-friendly features. This starts with the support of fast 4G. Everyday applications such as social media, streaming and surfing should not pose any problems. Speaking of fast. In the smartphone itself, a powerful octa-core processor is supposed to provide for high speeds and efficient battery protection. It gets really exciting when it comes to Dual SIM. After all, the Wiko Y81 supports this feature. Thus, it can be turned into a private as well as a business mobile phone by using two different SIM cards. Furthermore, Face Unlock is supposed to be available on the Wiko Y81. However, it remains to be seen whether this will work quickly and reliably.

The camera should also have a lot to offer. (Source: Wiko)

Camera with Bokeh effect

Even the one or other snapshot will probably be possible with the Wiko Y81. The main camera with 13 megapixels on the back should be able to provide a satisfactory quality. So that selfies are no problem, Wiko uses a 5 MP strong front camera. This also brings the very popular bokeh effect for the matching Instagram story.

Price and availability

Wiko seems to have an exciting smartphone in the pipeline with the Y81. Especially the price-performance ratio seems to be right this time. At least if the French remain true to their pricing policy even with the latest protégé. When the new low-budget smartphone from Wiko will make its way onto our store shelves is still unknown. And we don’t yet know anything about the price either. But we will keep you informed.
