Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro: High-quality Android tablet goes on pre-sale

Xiaomi is attacking the tablet throne and will soon be launching an impressively equipped Android device with the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro. It scores with a large, high-resolution 144 Hz display, a fast chip and state-of-the-art features.

Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro in detail

With the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro, the Chinese manufacturer wants to gnaw at the throne of Android tablets and overtake Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series. Of course, this requires top equipment, which Xiaomi really delivers here.

The tablet is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 octa-core CPU with clock speeds of up to 3.20 GHz, which is supported by 8 GB or 12 GB of fast LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of system memory, depending on the model. This should provide more than enough power for both demanding applications and the latest games.

Keyword games: Thanks to a resolution of 2,032 x 3,048 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of 144 Hertz, the 12.4-inch display shows them off to their best advantage. The 3:2 format display offers more vertical space, which is of course particularly advantageous when reading.

The display achieves a color depth of 12 bits, supports HDR 10 and Dolby Vision and has an average brightness of 900 cd/m². However, it is unfortunately not an OLED panel, but a classic LC display. This means that black tones and contrasts are at a disadvantage here.

For the enjoyment of movies, series and games, Xiaomi has equipped the Pad 6S Pro with six speakers, which are designed to provide a spatial sound. The high-resolution Bluetooth codecs LDAC, LHDC 5.3 and LC3 are also supported via Bluetooth LE Audio, while Auracast is also supported.

5ß MP camera and large battery

To ensure that the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro does not run out of breath so quickly, the manufacturer has equipped the Android tablet with a 10,000 mAh battery, which can also be fully charged in just 35 minutes via USB-C thanks to HyperCharge with 120 watts.

The 278.70 mm high, 191.58 mm wide and 6.26 mm flat tablet weighs 590 grams and relies on modern standards such as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, while NFC is also supported. The main camera is also impressive for a tablet:

On the rear, Xiaomi combines a 50-megapixel main camera with an aperture of f/1.8 with a 2 MP depth camera, while the selfie cam on the front has a resolution of 32 megapixels. The main camera even records videos in 4K at 60 frames per second.

Xiaomi HyperOS for a desktop experience

The operating system for the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro is HyperOS, which is based on Android and comes with some exciting special features. For example, it is possible to freely adjust and move open windows on the screen, just like on a PC or notebook.

There is also a clearly laid out file manager, which should make searching for saved images, documents and files noticeably easier. In combination with a Xiaomi smartphone such as the 14 or 14 Ultra, further functions are also offered, including the option of mirroring the smartphone screen on the tablet or sending files back and forth via drag and drop.

Price and availability

The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro is now available for pre-order and will be delivered from April 15, 2024. It starts at a price of 699.90 euros for the variant with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB system memory. An upgrade to 12 GB and 512 GB costs 799.90 euros.

Pre-order customers will receive the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro Touchpad Keyboard and the Xiaomi Focus Pen worth a total of around 270 euros free of charge directly from the Xiaomi store. There are also 100 Mi Points, which equates to a 50 euro voucher, and the opportunity to get a further 100 euro discount when trading in an old device.
