Who doesn’t know that – your own PC case at home glows cheerfully and colorfully in RGB colors and you forget the stress and worries of the last few days for a short moment when you see it. For me personally, colorful LEDs always have a noble and relaxing effect. So why not decorate your own garden with them?
That’s what Govee thought with its new product – the Govee Outdoor Neon Rope Lights works similarly to the indoor version, but is specifically designed for outdoor use. Customers can use the Outdoor Neon Lightstrip not only to set the mood for patios, gardens or paths, but also to beautify their interiors if required. How the Neon Rope performs in the test, you can find out below.

The Govee Outdoor Neon Rope Lights
In an elegant, rather dark packaging, the Neon Rope is delivered to your home – the unpacking here is already the first little experience with the product. Three black, pre-sorted boxes, in each of which once the LED strip, then the mounting hardware and the power supply are packed. An instruction manual with the necessary information is of course also not missing. Overall, the entire scope of delivery makes a high-quality impression, which must be appropriate for a product in this price range. The LED strip also does not have a central plastic wheel, as known from other LED strips, and has helped itself with three Velcro fasteners. This pleases me personally very well, because firstly you do without unnecessary plastic waste and secondly still have three reusable Velcro fasteners for example a structured wiring in the inventory.
Installation
For the installation, I chose the intended location, my backyard. The plan was to tape the LED strip to a wall under flagstones and run it around the bed, ending up with the rest of the strip ending at the fence in a pattern, in this case two prongs. It’s hard to put into words, so check out the pictures below:
Numerous plastic clips with 3M adhesive as well as plastic clips with skewers are available for mounting, both of which have proven to work well. Press the LED strip into the clip and just release the adhesive from the plastic – done! The self-adhesive clips hold with flying colors on the underside of the stone and on the fence, the skewers sit firmly in the ground even in gravel and cause no problems. So assembly is easy and done in minutes if you haven’t chosen a complicated pattern. With somewhat more complicated shapes with sharp corners, you have to be especially careful when fixing, because it can happen, as with me, that the tension is too high and the LED strip comes loose. In my case, however, this may also be due to the plastic slats of the fence, as they are not particularly tight.
Finally, all you have to do is connect the LED strip to the power supply and plug it into the mains, and the smart home configuration can begin. The scope of delivery also includes dowels, but I did not need them in my case. You can use them, for example, to hang the power supply.
Practice & Smart Home
The Neon Rope is now assembled and you can start with the installation. To do this, one must first download the Goove Home app (Apple, Android) and register there. After that, you will get into the interface to control the device. To add the Neon Rope, it must be connected to the power grid. Then you can go to the plus and within a few seconds the Neon Rope is displayed to you and is ready to be paired. Once you’ve done that, the setup is complete and you can choose your lighting mode. Overall, the process was easier and much faster than conventional LED strips, which is worth highlighting.
To pair the Neon Rope with your Alexa or Google Home, you can also easily control this through the app. In the settings, you select Alexa and are directly redirected to the Alexa app, where you can do the rest of the configuration. So here you can be ready in less than 10 minutes.
In the app, you then have such a wide range of options for lighting the Neon Rope Light that you don’t even know where to start at first. The preset modes are so numerous and all slightly different that you can spend almost 30 minutes just clicking and looking.
So the range is so wide that there must be something for everyone. Each LED of the Neon Rope Light can be controlled individually, so there is a wide, almost infinite choice of possibilities. All modes can also be addressed and controlled confidently via smart home.
Conclusion
The Govee Outdoor Neon Rope is an LED strip that packs a punch. Basically, we can say that the overall quality of the package is very convincing. The LED strip has been packaged and finished to a high standard, so you can find a nice addition to your decor both indoors and outdoors.
Many also purchase simple LED strips and plug them into a milky track to create a uniform lighting effect. You save this extra effort with Neon Rope and even have a better end product, since you can’t see the individual LEDs in the rail. Of course, the price is a little higher, but in my opinion, you get much more enjoyment out of the end and many and numerous lighting modes.
