Scope of delivery and assembly

Like every chair, the Sharkoon OfficePal C30 comes in a large brown box. In addition to a picture, we also find some technical information on the box. Not particularly exciting, at this point you have usually already decided to buy. At first glance, the inside of the box looks a mess and everything is jumbled up. Each component is packed separately, either in a plastic sleeve or a cardboard box. Plastic padding is also used to ensure that everything arrives intact. It should perhaps be emphasized that the box is not unnecessarily cluttered with filling material. The packaging waste is therefore kept to a minimum.

The OfficePal C30 is easy to assemble. The required tools are included in the scope of delivery. To make assembly even easier, use the cardboard box. Once the backrest has been fitted to the seat, the armrests are attached. The five multifunctional castors (60 mm diameter) are placed on the turnstile. If you now attach the gas pressure spring, the upper part can be placed on it.

After around 30 minutes, the OfficePal C30 is ready. If you follow the instructions and prepare the assembly material, nothing can go wrong. You could even lose a screw or two, as an extra one is included for each one.

Design and workmanship

Sharkoon uses a nylon mesh for the entire backrest. This gives the OfficePal C30 an unusual design. The extendable headrest also uses this nylon mesh. The seat is well upholstered and covered in fabric. The swivel base is made of metal, while the rest is made of plastic.

The support surfaces of the arms do not feel particularly high-quality. They can be moved a little to the left and right, even when the position is fixed. This is probably due to the usual mechanism of the backrests, which is actually used in every chair and is mass-produced. This can also be recognized by the gas pressure spring. According to the imprint, the Class 4 model comes from Samhongsa, China.

Otherwise, however, the rest of the workmanship makes a very good impression. The nylon mesh in particular promises good sitting comfort and good adaptability to the back. The mesh also gives the OfficePal C30 a special look, even though the entire chair is black.

The base makes a solid impression. It is made of nylon to make it a little more elastic. For safety, a metal ring has been added to the mount for the gas pressure spring. With all the materials used, it is noticeable that the price has been kept down.

The rubberized castors also make a good impression. Without having used them, we can already say that they roll quietly and without much resistance across the floor. More on this later, of course.

If black is too dark for your office, the Sharkoon OfficePal C30 is also available in grey.

Practical test

The workmanship of the Sharkoon OfficePal C30 has already given us hope that the good quality will also apply to the practical test. We can definitely attest to Sharkoon’s good sitting comfort. Although the OfficePal C30 is only designed for a body height of 190 cm, a few centimeters more are not too crucial. The mesh backrest adapts to the shape of the body and provides support in almost any posture – even if you are not sitting perfectly on the chair.

For added comfort, there is also a headrest that can be adjusted in angle and height. Body height naturally plays an important role here. For people around two meters tall, the neck is unfortunately more likely to be supported. The lumbar support also plays a subordinate role for taller people, as it cannot be adjusted.

The angle of the backrest can be freely adjusted using a wired mechanism. It is also height-adjustable in five stages. The rocking function is also adjusted at the same point. The Sharkoon OfficePal C30 has 3D armrests for even better customizability. They can be adjusted in height as well as forwards or backwards. They can also be adjusted in width.

The gas pressure spring is not included for seating comfort. Nevertheless, it should be mentioned that a load capacity of up to 150 kg would certainly not be inappropriate for an office chair.

Ergonomics and comfort of the Sharkoon OfficePal C30 at a glance:

  • upgraded synchronized mechanism for individual adjustment
  • adjustable backrest (angle, five height settings)
  • adjustable headrest (angle, height)
  • Seat tilt adjustment for improved comfort
  • Lumbar support
  • 3D armrests

Conclusion on the Sharkoon OfficePal C30

The workmanship is good and the seating comfort is also impressive. There are limitations in terms of height and the permissible weight. You can only be 190 cm tall to make optimum use of the Sharkoon OfficePal C30. The gas pressure spring also only supports a weight of up to 120 kg. It could be a bit more here. Especially if we take the price into account.

In general, the office chair is a solid product and can also look good in the home office. Depending on your physique, we can only recommend the OfficePal C30 to a limited extent.
