Acer ebii: First e-bike from the manufacturer comes with AI functions

When you hear the name Acer, you first think of PCs, notebooks or peripherals. With the Acer ebii, the company is now launching its first own e-bike, which comes with AI functions and an unusual design.

The Acer ebii in detail

Gaming PCs like the Predator Orion 7000 (our review) or notebooks like the Aspire Vero AV14 (our review) are one thing, but e-bikes are quite another. However, the manufacturer is now entering exactly this market with the Acer ebii.

It is an AI-controlled smartbike for the city that is supposed to make short trips more comfortable. Visually, the bike relies on a simple, futuristic design with clear edges and a flat entrance, which makes the ebii equally interesting for women and men. The e-bike relies on single-sided forks at the front, which is intended to ensure an even smoother and more controlled ride. The aluminum bike weighs 16 kilograms.

Weighing in at around 16 kilograms, the Acer ebii is powered by a 250-watt hub motor that offers 40 Nm of torque and has a pedal assist of up to 25 km/h. A maximum of 110 kilometers are possible with one battery charge, while the battery is fully charged again in two and a half hours.

The problem is that people who want to ride the ebii must be no taller than 185 cm. The permissible total weight of 120 km is also rather tight. So minus the bike itself, you’re not allowed to weigh more than 104 kg – and then you’re not allowed to carry any groceries or anything else.

What’s smart about the ebii smartbike?

The Acer ebii’s smart ebiiAssistant is designed to learn pedal power, riding conditions and preferred assistance over time and respond in a personalized manner. The e-bike also does without a gearshift: here, too, the ebii smart wants to deliver exactly the support you need at the moment.

However, it remains to be seen how well this works in practice. In addition, the bike is able to lock itself automatically so that it cannot be moved by unauthorized persons and offers GPS tracking.

It is unknown, however, when and at what prices the Acer ebii will be released. More details can be found on the official Acer website.
