AGON AG493UCX2 and AG493QCX from AOC: New 49″ Curved Gaming Monitors

After the recently announced AOC Gaming G3 monitors, the manufacturer is bringing out the heavy guns under the new umbrella brand AGON by AOC. The AGON AG493UCX2 and AG493QCX are two new 49-inch curved gaming monitors that aim to create a maximally immersive and stylish gaming atmosphere for the discerning competitive gamer.

32:9 Curved Super Wide Monitors

Bringing a 124.5-centimeter (49-inch) screen diagonal to the table, the AGON AG493UCX2 and AG493QCX gaming monitors effectively combine two 27-inch panels into one seamless panel.

The AG493UCX2 comes with a DQHD resolution (5120 x 1440) at a refresh rate of 165 Hz. Just below that, you position the AG493QCX with Dual Full HD (DFHD) resolution (3840 x 1080) and 144 Hz. Visually, both curved gaming monitors hardly differ from each other.

They feature a VA panel that delivers deep blacks, rich colors, and a high contrast ratio, and comes with VESA-certified DisplayHDR 400 certification.

Consistent feature list

The AGON AG493UCX2 and AG493QCX feature 1800R curvature to fill the user’s peripheral field of view. As an anti-tearing measure, both gaming monitors rely on FreeSync Premium Pro technology.

In terms of response time, both displays rely on a fast 1 ms MPRT (4 ms GtG), while a contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and a brightness of 550 cd/m² are mentioned. They also have two HDMI 2.0 and two DisplayPort 1.2 inputs each, which support a Picture-by-Picture mode. This allows connecting a work notebook and desktop PC simultaneously and displaying them side by side, for example.

Also on board are three USB A (3.2 Gen 1) ports each, while the top model AG493UCX2 additionally has a USB-C port that can also handle video signals as an alternative. For acoustics, a line-out output and two built-in speakers (2 × 5 W) are also used.

To make OSD settings or select different game modes and game-specific functions, an included remote control is available besides the on-board buttons. Alternatively, all settings can also be made in the AOC G-Menu software.

There are six dedicated gaming modes to choose from (FPS, Racing, RTS, as well as three custom options) that adjust the picture settings to suit different genres.

Pricing and Availability

The AGON by AOC AG493UCX2 and AG493QCX will be available in September 2021. The manufacturer’s MSRP is €1,189.00 for the top model and €919.00 for the Dual Full HD variant, respectively.
