ROG – the gaming series from Asus – now has a new convertible on offer. The ROG Flow X13 is an ultra-light foldable gaming notebook that is supposed to be able to offer a brilliant display in 16:10 format.
Gaming power in an ultralight guise
Asus already caused quite a stir with the ROG Flow X13 at this year’s CES in January. After all, gaming notebooks are not necessarily known for coming in such slim dimensions. Despite the ultra-light design, there is a lot under the hood. Besides the powerful AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS, the slim notebook also offers rich graphics power. This is ensured by an external GPU that can easily be plugged in if required.
Asus once again scores with a lot of freedom of choice. The basic version of the gaming convertible, which is available in stores now, has an MSRP of 1,499 Euros. In addition to an AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS with a maximum clock rate of 4.4 GHz, the hardware experts also install 16 GB of RAM and a PCIe SSD with 512 GB of storage space. The display is also impressive even in the cheapest configuration. The 13.4-inch touch display offers a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
More power with external GPU
Regardless of the features, the ROG Flow X13 always comes with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q. Those who do not play demanding games will more than manage with this. For example, titles like Fortnite are supposed to run super smoothly on the gaming notebook. This will make mobile gamers very happy. If you play games at home, you can easily turn the portable convertible into a real gaming machine. The compact external hard drive is supposed to be available in different variants for the ROG Flow X13. The so-called ROG XG Mobile can easily be connected to the ultra-light notebook via cable. You can choose between a GeForce RTX 3070 or even a GeForce RTX 3080.
How much Asus wants to charge for the practical external GPUs is still unknown. The same applies to the ultra-light convertible’s top features. In the best-equipped variant, the ROG Flow X13 offers an AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS as well as a display with 4K resolution and a whopping 32 GB RAM working memory. The features are rounded off with a 1 TB SSD.
