ASUS ROG Notebooks at CES 2023: The hottest new products

Of course, the manufacturer has also unveiled a whole range of new ASUS ROG notebooks at CES 2023, which are supposed to provide brute performance with the new GeForce RTX-4000 graphics cards from NVIDIA. We present the new models in detail.

New ASUS ROG Notebooks at CES 2023

In addition to a lot of exciting peripherals, the manufacturer is also introducing a whole range of new ASUS ROG notebooks at CES 2023. These include the Strix SCAR and Strix G series gaming notebooks in 16-, 17- and 18-inch versions, the new Zephyrus M16 with ROG Nebula HDR and AniMe Matrix display, as well as the Zephyrus G16 and Zephyrus G14.

Also updated are the ROG Flow X16, Flow X13 and Flow Z13 models, which are all compatible with the external ROG XG Mobile GPU for extra gaming power.

ROG Strix SCAR and Strix G Series: Full gaming power for e-sports enthusiasts

First up are ASUS’ new ROG Strix SCAR and Strix G series notebooks, which are aimed at e-sportsmen and enthusiasts. The new gaming flagship ROG Strix SCAR 18 (G834) combines the power and convenience of a desktop PC in a notebook equipped with premium components for gamers.

It comes as the first ROG notebook ever with an 18-inch Nebula display and QHD resolution. The ROG Strix SCAR is also available in 16- (G634 with Nebula HRD display) or 17-inch models (G734 with Nebula display). The 16- and 18-inch models are equipped with up to 13th-generation Intel Core i9-13980HX processors, while the ROG Strix SCAR 17 comes with an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 processor.

All models come with the GeForce RTX 4000 cards including Advanced Optimus technology and are designed for gaming with high frame rates. The cooling is also supposed to be particularly effective.

With Conductonaut Extreme Liquid Metal on the CPU, the Tri-Fan technology, the circumferential vents and the intelligent cooling, the maximum performance should be available even under permanent full load.

There’s also Dolby Atmos Virtual Surround, a 64-Wh or 90-Wh battery, and a 100-W Type-C charging port. WiFi 6E and an Ethernet port offer state-of-the-art networking for minimal lag on wired and compatible wireless networks. The screens offer Dolby Vision HDR. and NVIDIA G-Sync support.

ROG Zephyrus Series: Powerful performance, even in 14 inches

Also updated is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus series, which combines powerful hardware with a sleek and stylish design. Already last year, the Zephyrus G14 marked one of the hottest gaming laptops of the year – and this year’s laptop sounds extremely exciting as well.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 (GA402) is a 14-inch gaming laptop with a brightly lit ROG Nebula HDR Mini LED display with QHD resolution and 165 Hz, which is Pantone-validated and has a 16:10 aspect ratio. Another panel option is FHD with 144 Hz.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 offers maximum power thanks to an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 GPU with a maximum 125 W TGP, a MUX switch and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus.

A Vapor Chamber for the CPU and GPU, the unique liquid metal cooling for the CPU, and two 84-blade Arc Flow fans are supposed to keep the notebook cool even under load. The battery has a capacity of 76 Wh.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (GU603) and ROG Zephyrus M16 (GU604) are equipped with a 13th generation Intel Core i9-13900H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series laptop GPU, with a maximum of 145 W TGP (M16, 120 W TGP on the G16). In addition, there is a MUX Switch and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus.

The ROG Nebula display with 94 percent screen-to-body ratio in 16:10 format ensures an optimal viewing experience on the ROG Zephyrus G16. The ROG Zephyrus M16 comes with a ROG Nebula HDR display in QHD resolution, with mini LEDs and 240 Hz at 3 ms response time. G-Sync is of course also offered and that with a screen-to-body ratio of 92 percent around 16:10 format.

The battery of both notebooks holds 90 watt hours. The G16 and M16 both have Thunderbolt 4 interfaces, and the M16 also has the customizable AniMe Matrix display. All Zephyrus models have a 180° ErgoLift hinge for maximum comfort, Dolby Atmos speakers, and a multi-mode 3D microphone array with two-way AI noise cancelling for clear communication.

There’s also a full HD IR camera on the G14 and M16, while the G16 has to make do with a 720p IR camera. All models come with Windows Hello support. Numerous connectivity options include a 100W USB Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery, PD charging support, and WiFi 6E.

ROG Flow X13 and ROG XG Mobile: The gaming convertible enters a new round

Also updated as one of the new ASUS ROG notebooks at CES 2023, the ROG Flow X13 gaming convertible (GV302) was the first member of the Flow family and will also be one of the first devices with a 13-inch Nebula display in 2023. This QHD panel with 165 Hz, alternatively also available in Full HD with 120 Hz, is supposed to convince with rich and vivid colors and a high pixel density.

Both variants are Pantone-validated, with Dolby Vision support, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass DXC touchscreen, G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus technology.  For powerful gaming, the new ROG Flow X13 comes with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 CPU and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 GPU.

Thanks to the 360-degree convertible design, you can use the Flow X13 as a laptop, tablet, in tent mode or standing up. All in an ultra-compact 13-inch chassis.

In combination with the external XG Mobile GPU with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 GPU, the convertible is supposed to be expanded to a gaming station on desktop level. In addition, the liquid metal cooling on the CPU and three dedicated exhaust vents ensure a cool head at maximum performance. For extended sessions, this is provided by a 75-Wh battery, 100-W USB Type-C fast charging and a 130-W power supply.

ROG Flow X16

The ROG Flow X16 (GV601) also comes in a 360° design, has touch support in tablet mode and stylus support for precise notes and drawings.

Other features impress with a 13th generation Intel Core i9-13900H processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 laptop graphics processor, up to 2TB PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD storage, and up to 16GB DDR5 memory with two upgradeable SO-DIMMs.

The brand new Tri-Fan system features Arc Flow fans, plus liquid metal thermal paste is used for the CPU and a dust filter ensures consistent performance and stability.

The Nebula HDR Mini LED display with up to 1,024 individual dimming zones also sounds impressive, combining QHD resolution with a refresh rate of 240 hertz at 3 milliseconds response time. It gets up to 1,100 nits of brightness, is Pantone-validated, with a DCI-P3 color gamut of 100 percent and Dolby Vision HDR. In terms of connectivity, HDMI 2.1 and a Type-C USB4 port with Thunderbolt 4 are offered.

ROG Flow Z13: New edition of the gaming tablet

Things are also getting mobile and powerful with ASUS ROG Notebooks at CES 2023 with the ROG Flow Z13 (GZ301) gaming tablet. It comes with a 13th-generation Intel Core i9-13900H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 laptop GPU with G-SYNC and DDS 2.0 support.

The 13-inch device only weighs 1.1 kilograms and is only 12 mm slim. Thanks to an adjustable viewing angle of up to 170° and support for external XG Mobile GPUs, you should also be able to benefit from the performance on the go.

With a 13-inch Nebula display, 16:10 aspect ratio, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage with a 165Hz QHD panel, the screen has a lot to offer as well. The Flow Z13 is particularly robust with a scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass DXC touchscreen and is said to feature effective cooling.

With a detachable 15-inch full-size RGB keyboard, USB-C power via a 130W charger or powerbank, style and gaming convenience are guaranteed. The premium Dolby Atmos sound, Hi-Res audio, smart amplifier and two-way AI noise cancellation, and Thunderbolt 4 also enhance the gaming experience.

Pricing and Availability

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not mentioned prices and availabilities for the new ASUS ROG notebooks at CES 2023. These will follow in due course.
