ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16: Gaming notebooks now available in stores

Slowly, but surely, more and more new releases from CES 2023 are hitting the shelves. With the ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16, you can expect two gaming notebooks that want to score with brute performance and efficient cooling.

ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16 in detail

At CES 2023, the ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16 marked two highlights among the gaming notebook news from the manufacturer. As they now announce, the G18 (G814J) and G16 (G614J) models are now available in stores and impress with strong performance and intelligent cooling.

Both are powered by a current NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 graphics processor with Advanced Optimus technology, with the GeForce RTX 4080 installed as a maximum. The Intel Core i9-13980HX processor of the 13th generation is used as the processor. In addition, there is a fast PCIe 4 SSD and is up to 32 GB DDR5 memory with 4,800 MHz.

The newly integrated full-width heatsinks, whose cooling fins provide more efficient cooling, could be moved closer to the fan openings due to the newly designed motherboard. With Conductonaut Extreme Liquid Metal on the CPU, the Tri-Fan technology, the circumferential vents and the intelligent cooling, the maximum possible performance is available even at high workloads.

Sound-wise, both notebooks aim to score with Dolby Atmos Virtual Surround and ASUS AI Noise Cancelling, for filtering background noise from the microphones.

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16 come with up to a QHD 240Hz Nebula display, in 16:10 aspect ratio with 500 nits brightness and 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage. It offers a response time of only 3 ms. Aura Sync compatible RGB lighting per key for the keyboard, a light bar and customizable Armor Caps are also offered.

Whether it can take on the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16, despite a slightly weaker GPU, remains to be seen. The scored in our test at the end of February with an outstanding performance, not least thanks to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090.

Prices and availability

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16 gaming notebooks are available now in stores and at the ASUS estore. The G18 starts at 2,199 Euros, and no prices are listed for the G16 on the website so far.
