Bluetti presents its extension batteries

The company Bluetti is known for its mobile energy solutions. The extensive portfolio includes numerous power stations, solar generators, etc. In addition, Bluetti also offers some expansion batteries that provide more comfort on the road: Each expansion battery significantly extends the runtime of a power station. High compatibility and power bank function

The extension batteries from Bluetti are suitable for a wide variety of solar generators and power stations from the manufacturer. This ensures that an inexpensive and practical expansion solution is available, largely independent of the Bluetti module previously used. The Bluetti solutions stand out from the competition primarily because they include a powerbank function. This means that each expansion battery can not only be used in this function, but can also be used directly for charging smartphones, for example. For this purpose, the expansion batteries are equipped with several inputs and outputs, on/off switches and displays.

In addition, they can be operated independently of a solar generator in the powerbank function. For this purpose, they can be connected to the mains via 100 W USB-C port, via 18 W USB-A port as well as via cigarette lighter cable. The other charging options are also diverse.

Different solutions on offer

The performance offered by the extension batteries is respectable. Even the weakest product, the B80, can charge a smartphone 43 times, a laptop 10 times, and power a lamp for 60 hours continuously. The other expansion batteries on offer are correspondingly more powerful. They are optimized for different application contexts.

Small expansion batteries: B80 and B230

While the B80, for example, is the perfect companion for the next camping trip with the family, the B230, together with an appropriate generator, can power the next big barbecue party with jukeboxes, electric grill, beverage cooling and lighting. However, the B230 is significantly heavier than the B80: 21.8 versus 9.9 kilograms. Furthermore, only the small B80 is IP65 certified. Bluetti thus makes it clear that the areas of application of the two expansion batteries differ, although they are both quite suitable as standalone power supplies on the road.

Large extension batteries: B300 and B300S

In addition to these two solutions for recreational use, Bluetti also offers two more ambitious expansion batteries, the B300 and the B300S, which are designed for serious applications. They can be used to expand generator systems that are intended to provide power to an entire household for several days. In the event of power outages or in times of extreme electricity prices, Bluetti steps in with its most powerful generators. If these do not handle the household on their own, the two most powerful extension batteries are an inexpensive solution to gain more capacity. At its peak, the AC500 generator, which can be equipped with four B300s or six B300Ss, can achieve outputs of up to 18,432 Wh. Bluetti talks about this being able to power an average household for about a week.

The main difference between the B300 and B300S, both of which have a capacity of 3,072 Wh, is that the S model is equipped with a self-heating function that ensures the battery can still be used in temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.

Long-life battery cells

Equipped all extension batteries from the house Bluetti with LiFePO4 battery cells, which are particularly durable. After 3,000 to 3,500 charging cycles, 80 percent performance is said to still be available. According to Bluetti, this corresponds to a service life of around ten years in daily use with daily discharging. In addition, the expansion batteries are equipped with a battery management system that protects against overloads, short circuits and other hazards.
