Cooler Master CH331: Gaming headset with 50mm drivers and virtual 7.1 sound
The Cooler Master CH331 is a new gaming headset that, according to the manufacturer, focuses exclusively on function and puts durability and audio in the foreground. These can also be seen in any case. Offered is a virtual 7.1 surround sound, 50 mm drivers and ambient RGB lighting at a reasonable price. It thus succeeds the MH670, which we already found to be good last year.
Cooler Master CH331 promises high comfort and rich sound
Completely devoid of bells and whistles, the new Cooler Master CH331 gaming headset aims to come along without missing the basics.“The CH331 is a gaming headset designed for everyday use. It’s equipped with the essential features you need and want in a quality headset,” reveals Bryant Nguyen, general manager of the manufacturer’s Peripheral Business Unit.
Specifically, this means the use of specially tuned drivers with a diameter of 50 mm, which cover the usual frequency band from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, but offer a comparatively low impedance of only 16 ohms. The sensitivity of the 371.2 gram headset is also impressive at 103 dB ± 3 dB. A virtual 7.1 surround sound is also offered.
An omni-directional microphone is used for voice reproduction, with a frequency range of 100 – 8,000 Hz and a sensitivity of -40 dB ± 3 dB. The flexible microphone boom can also be removed, if desired, to use the CH331 as headphones.
Comfortable cushioning, rugged construction
The PU leather circumaural earcups feature a custom curve to better conform to the shape of the head. The lightweight design and padded headband ensure minimal pressure and increase wearing comfort, the manufacturer promises.
At the same time, however, the Cooler Master CH331 is particularly durable thanks to a robust aluminum frame, while the matte black color scheme offers understated style. This can also be set in scene with the help of ambient RGB lighting, which accentuates the manufacturer’s logo on the outer sides of the ear cups with color.
The headset, which connects via USB-A, is operated with a remote control on the cable. You can use it to adjust the volume, turn the backlight on and off, and mute the speaker or microphone.
