Garmin Enduro 2: New smartwatch with up to 550 days runtime and offline maps

Endurance is already in the name of the Garmin Enduro 2. Thanks to solar technology, the battery of the multisport smartwatch is supposed to last up to 550 days. A bright LED flashlight, GPS and offline maps are also offered.

The Garmin Enduro 2 in detail

The Garmin Enduro 2 presents itself visually as a sports-trimmed image of the Fenix 7, which we were able to test in the form of the Sapphire Solar model in May. The new Enduro also relies on a solar panel to charge the batteries by simply exposing the smartwatch to sunlight.

This provides the new model with a runtime of up to 46 days in smartwatch mode. 150 hours with active GPS navigation and a whopping 550 days in energy-saving mode. This significantly tops the runtimes of the Fenix 7 solar sports watch of around 14 days.

The first Enduro lasted a bit longer, but did not offer offline maps in memory at the time. This malus mends the new edition now, which is particularly useful runners, as well as hiking and cycling tours.

Ready for sports

With its rugged and lightweight design, easy-to-read 1.4-inch Power Sapphire glass and comfortable UltraFit nylon strap, the Garmin Enduro 2 is ready for any sporting activity. The 51mm case features a titanium bezel and case back.

Also offered is a dynamic satellite mode called SatIQ. This automatically and dynamically searches and selects the correct GPS mode to maximize battery life without compromising position accuracy.

In addition, multiple navigation satellite systems can be used (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo) and even on multiple frequencies at the same time to increase position accuracy in areas where GNSS signals bounce back, are weak or are usually unavailable.

In addition, there are many other practical sports modes, including trail running including VO2 measurement, Ultra Run or Adventure Racing, which allows you to see the competition heart rate, altitude, segment times and other data.

In addition, there are climbing and running modes, as well as extensive data for speed on climbs, a visual running forecast with indications of your fitness level, and an automatic pause timer.

The technology of the Garmin Enduro 2

From a purely technical standpoint, the Garmin Enduro 2 relies on a 1.4-inch color panel complete with touchscreen controls that resolves at 280 x 280 pixels. The smartwatch measures 51 x 51 x 15.6 mm and weighs just under 70 grams in total.

It is water-resistant up to 10 ATM and offers 32 GB of internal memory. Bluetooth, ANT+ and Wi-Fi connectivity are of course also part of the package, and the range of functions leaves nothing to be desired. This was already the case with the Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar, which we liked especially with regard to the extensive sports, fitness and health data analysis.

Up to 2,000 songs can be stored in the internal memory for offline music playback, while the smartwatch is compatible with iPhones and Android smartphones. Conveniently, the Enduro 2 even features an LED flashlight, which is said to be significantly brighter than the variant from the Fenix 7X. It shines with a smart light mode in either red or white.
