Huawei is currently surprising with some exciting announcements. The Chinese tech company took full advantage of the IFA 2022 to announce its new MateBook X Pro 2022, for example. The Huawei MateView SE, on the other hand, is a new monitor that offers solid features at a real fighting price.
Smart design and eye-pleasing image performance
The minimalistic design of the Huawei MateView SE should probably be a real asset for many offices and the home office. The company promises the most eye-friendly image reproduction possible on the 23.8-inch screen, so even long workdays should not be a problem. This is made possible by a combination of full coverage of the sRGB color space, 90 percent coverage of the P3 color space, as well as flicker-free and low-blue light technology.
To ensure that even gaming is easy on the eyes, the inexpensive monitor even relies on AMD FreeSync, which prevents tearing. In terms of refresh rate, the Huawei MateView SE is also above average with 75 Hz. A resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels does not break any records, but it is perfectly sufficient in view of 23.8 inches. The thin screen edges that appear when the display is turned on are a real eye-catcher. Huawei achieves a screen-to-body ratio of a proud 92 percent here.
E-book mode for bookworms
Those who have to read a lot on the monitor for hobby or work reasons will sometimes want a display that is equivalent to an e-book reader. Huawei probably thought of this as well and implemented an e-book mode in the Huawei MateView SE without further ado. This is a first for the Chinese electronics company and makes a very good impression at first glance. The manufacturer also seems to have thought of everything in terms of ergonomics. The monitor can be rotated both vertically and horizontally. A pivot mode, in which the image is rotated by 90 degrees, is also on board. Thanks to VESA, different mounting options are possible on top of that.
Control of the Huawei MateView SE via joystick
When it comes to the Huawei MateView SE’s ease of use, the manufacturer has obviously also thought things through. The manufacturer relies on a joystick, which is supposed to be able to control the on-screen display comfortably. There is also a lot of variety in terms of ports. Not only HDMI ports, but also a DisplayPort are found on the back. Unfortunately, you will not find modern USB-C incl. Thunderbolt 4 here. However, this does not hurt at all in view of the low price.
Price and availability
If you are looking for a new monitor anyway, the Huawei MateView SE might be just the right one for you. You can get the monitor in the manufacturer’s online store right now for an MSRP starting at 169 Euros. If you do not want to do without the rotatable design thanks to the matching hinge, you will have to pay 189 Euros.
