IFA 2022: Huawei MateBook X Pro 2022 is a strong ultrabook

Huawei presented some exciting innovations at the IFA 2022. One of them was the Huawei MateBook X Pro 2022, which does not only score with a sophisticated design and an extremely thin case at first glance. On top of that, there is a lot of power under the hood.

The perfect companion

There are many technology highlights to admire at this year’s IFA. Among them is a 97-inch OLED TV from LG. But the Funkausstellung also has a lot to offer PC fans. While gamers were able to take a closer look at powerful gaming notebooks like the XMG Focus (M22), other manufacturers also had power notebooks for business users up their sleeves. So did Huawei.

With the Huawei MateBook X Pro, which will soon be on sale in Germany, the Chinese electronics company presents a real power machine in a compact design. The heart of the powerful notebook is an Intel Core i7-1260P. Thanks to a revised cooling technology, it should be able to offer best performance even in demanding applications. What will please many is that Huawei has put its vulnerable webcam design of the predecessor to rest.

Instead of positioning it in the middle of the keyboard, the manufacturer now classically places the camera above the display. The latter measures 14.2 inches and has thus grown compared to the model from 2021. It is wonderfully sharp with 3,120 x 2,080 pixels and also pleasingly bright with 500 nits. Huawei’s MateBook X Pro also offers a refresh rate of 90 Hz so that moving images flicker smoothly over the IPS panel. The case clearly shows that the manufacturer obviously wants to attack Apple’s MacBook Air with its new ultrabook.

With a thickness of just 15.6 mm and a weight of 1.26 kg, it is a slim companion that should probably fit in any backpack. The focus on the trackpad, which is surprisingly good in Apple’s experience, also makes the competition stand out. It offers multi-touch and also supports gesture control. In terms of ports, there are a total of four USB-C ports, two of which offer Thunderbolt 4. Beyond that, there is a 3.5 mm jack.
