Apple is set to give three of the four iPhone models in the upcoming 16th generation larger batteries. This is according to a new iPhone 16 leak, which speaks of an increase in capacity of up to 6.3 percent.
iPhone 16 leak: Larger batteries for standard and Pro models
The battery life of iPhones has gradually decreased in recent generations, although the iPhone 15 Pro Max is still hard to beat in terms of battery life. Apple apparently wants to counteract this trend in the upcoming iPhone 16 series, as revealed in a new leak.
As leaker OvO Baby Sauce OvO reports on Weibo, the capacity of three of the four planned models is set to increase, in some cases significantly. However, it remains to be seen whether this really translates into better runtimes. Interestingly, however, the capacities match those of a previous leak by Majin Bu on X.
According to this, the iPhone 16 is to be given around six percent more capacity. The battery of the iPhone 16 Pro will be 2.5 percent larger and that of the Pro Max even 5.7 percent larger. Only the battery of the iPhone 16 Plus will shrink, and by a significant 8.6 percent.

iPhone 16 Plus: Why the battery could shrink
However, it remains unclear why the battery should be reduced in the Plus. It is conceivable that the built-in chip could nevertheless improve the battery life thanks to higher efficiency. From a technical point of view, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are likely to be similar apart from the screen diagonal.
It is also conceivable that Apple wants to increase the difference between the iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 16 Pro Max in order to persuade more prospective buyers of large smartphones to purchase the more expensive Pro Max.
The iPhone 16 is then expected to be delivered directly with iOS 18, which should have some exciting new features up its sleeve. For example, there is talk of a completely new home screen that is even easier to customize.
