MWC 2022: POCO X4 Pro 5G smartphone officially unveiled

POCO also officially unveiled its new flagship smartphone at MWC 2022 in Barcelona. The POCO X4 Pro 5G is said to be a real all-rounder that features a 120 Hz AMOLED display and a 108 megapixel camera. In addition, the POCO M4 Pro is a cheaper model that wants to score with a successful price-performance ratio.

The POCO X4 Pro 5G in detail

The POCO X4 Pro 5G is the latest smartphone from the POCO brand that aims to offer a flagship-level experience at an affordable price. Inside the smartphone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695, which is manufactured using the 6nm process and brings 5G support.

The octa-core CPU consists of two fast ARM Coretex-A78 cores with a clock rate of 2.2 GHz, as well as six A55 cores with 1.8 GHz each. Depending on the model, it is supported by 6 GB or 8 GB LPDDR4X working memory and 128 GB or 256 GB UFS 2.2 system memory, which can also be expanded via microSD card.

The POCO X4 Pro 5G uses a 6.67-inch AMOLED dot display with Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1800 pixels) and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. A refresh rate of 120 Hz and a 360 Hz touch sampling rate are also offered. Due to the SGS Eye Care certification, the POCO X4 Pro 5G’s screen is easy on the eyes even during long gaming sessions.

The smartphone measures 164.19 mm x 76.1 mm x 8.12 mm (height x width x depth) and weighs 205 grams. The front is protected by Cornering Gorilla Glass 5. The fingerprint sensor is also located on the side of the smartphone.

5,000 mAh powerful battery

The battery capacity of the X4 Pro 5G is 5,000 mAh. POCO promises more than 15 hours of video playback, 25 hours of reading time, and 191 hours of music playback at a stretch. Thanks to 67W Turbo Charging, the POCO X4 Pro 5G can be charged up to 70 percent in just 22 minutes. A full charge takes 41 minutes. Charging is apparently exclusively via USB Type-C.

In addition, the POCO X4 Pro 5G offers an immersive entertainment experience with dual speakers for loud and clear stereo sound and a Z-axis linear motor for stronger vibrations with more precise response when gaming. The smartphone also supports MIUI 13 with new features and performance improvements that help optimize the user experience.

The Cameras

On the rear, the POCO X4 Pro 5G relies on a triple-cam setup that consists of a 108-megapixel main camera complete with a 1/1.52-inch sensor (f/1.9), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (118-degree field of view, f/2.2), and a 2-megapixel macro camera (f/2.4).

On the front, the manufacturer installs a 16-megapixel strong selfie cam with an aperture of f/2.4. The smartphone has a number of features, such as a panorama selfie option. It also offers features like slow motion, dual video, time-lapse video, super macro, movie mode and kaleidoscope.

POCO M4 Pro: The little brother

The POCO M4 Pro is also another affordable novelty. The smartphone relies on a 6.43-inch Full HD+ display with AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. It comes with a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits.

The triple camera setup with a high-resolution 64MP main camera captures sharp and detailed photos and is the first of its kind in the M-Series. The 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, along with the 2-megapixel macro sensor, rounds out the triple setup. The selfie cam comes in at 16 megapixels.

The POCO M4 Pro weighs just 179.5g and is 8.09mm thick, making it the lightest smartphone from POCO to date. There is also a 5,000 mAh battery here, which can last for more than two days according to the manufacturer. Furthermore, POCO M4 Pro charges fully in just one hour thanks to 33W Pro Fast Charging. In 10 minutes on the mains, the smartphone is said to be ready for two hours of video playback.

Inside, the smartphone is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G96, which combines a 2.05 GHz octa-core CPU and an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Also on offer is 8GB of working memory, with Dynamic RAM Expansion Technology enabling the transfer of an additional 3GB from the 256GB ROM. Again, the system memory is expandable up to 1TB.

Prices and Availability

The POCO X4 Pro 5G will be available March 2, 2022 in three colors: laser black, laser blue and POCO yellow. Two variants are available to choose from: 6 GB of working memory and 128 GB of system memory, and and 8 GB and 256 GB. The former model is priced at an MSRP of 299.90 euros, while the top model comes in at 349.90 euros.

The POCO M4 Pro launches simultaneously in Power Black, Cool Blue and POCO Yellow. It will be offered in the same trim levels. With 6 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM, the MSRP is 229.90 euros, while with 8 GB and 256 GB, 279.90 euros will be called.
