Anyone using smart lighting from Nanoleaf should definitely download the latest Nanoleaf firmware update to version 7.1.0. This reduces the standby power consumption of the lighting elements by up to 96 percent.
Nanoleaf firmware update reduces power consumption
Nanoleaf’s smart lighting elements, such as the new Lines Squared, the Shapes tiles or the Lines (our review) do not just consume little power when switched on, which can quickly become expensive, especially with the rise in energy prices.
The standby power consumption of the LED lighting elements is also not to be scoffed at. The panels sometimes consume up to 10 watts – in standby mode, mind you. The provider is now countering this with a new firmware update, which can be downloaded immediately via the Nanoleaf app.
Nanoleaf firmware update 7.1.0 is supposed to reduce the standby power consumption by up to 96 percent for the shapes and at least 50 percent for the lines. The manufacturer writes thus:
“Effective immediately, users can reduce the power consumption of their Nanoleaf products in standby mode by approximately 96 percent for the Shapes product line and 50 percent for the Lines and Elements. The mode is available with firmware update 7.1.0.”
So it’s the Nanoleaf Shapes in particular that benefit from the update and are said to consume only around 0.4 watts when switched off after the update. However, there is also a clear savings potential for the Lines or Elements.
A single drop of bitterness: Unfortunately, older products from the manufacturer do not benefit from the reduction in standby power consumption.
