Poco M3 – Smartphone with 6.000 mAh battery in Flashsale

The new Poco M3 from Xiaomi subsidiary Poco is a direct competitor to the recently released Motorola G9 Power. The Poco M3 can convince above all by its likewise 6,000 mAh large battery and the better display as well as the lower price of regular 149 euro.

The battery life of the Poco M3 is more than five days with light use, with regular use the power goes out after three days. The Motorola G9 Power has similar battery life figures, but at 199 Euro it is 50 Euro more expensive.

The components of the Poco M3 are convincing despite its low price. A 6.53-inch full HD plus display (2340 x 1080 pixels) with a notch for the selfie camera (8 megapixels) is installed. The Moto G9 has a slightly larger display with a 6.8-inch diagonal and a slightly better Selfie camera (16 megapixels), but has a much worse resolution (1,640 x 720 pixels).

Both the Moto G9 and the Poco M3 have a Snapdragon 662 SoC (System-on-a-Chip) and 4 GByte DDR4x memory. The internal memory of the Poco M2 is 64 GByte, the alternative from Motorola offers 128 GByte internal memory. In both smartphones, however, this can be expanded with a micro-SD card.

Poco M3 with 48 Megapixel main camera

The triple camera of the Poco M3 consists of a 48 megapixel main camera (aperture f/1.79) as well as a macro camera and a depth sensor with 2 megapixels each. In the Moto G9, the main camera offers a resolution of 64 megapixels (aperture f/1.8).

3.5 mm jack, fingerprint sensor and IR blaster

Features of the Poco M3 are also impressive. Despite its low price, the smartphone is dual-SIM-capable. Unfortunately, 5G is not supported. Music can be played either via the stereo speakers in the device or via a 3.5 mm jack plug. In addition, the Poco M3 offers WLAN (ac standard), Bluetooth 5 and an FM radio as well as an IR blaster, which turns the smartphone into a remote control. The fingerprint sensor is integrated in the power button.

Unfortunately the Poco M3 is not compatible with Google Pay due to the missing NFC coil and is therefore subject to the Moto G9 Power in this point. However, both smartphones can be used as power banks. The Poco M3 battery is charged via USB-C with 18 watts.

The Poco M3’s Android 10 operating system was supplemented by the MIUI 12 (for Poco) user interface. It has not yet been announced whether the device will receive an update to new Android versions.

In Germany the M3 is offered in two versions. The basic version with 4 GByte RAM and 64 GByte memory costs 149 Euro. From November 27 to November 30, 2020, the smartphone is available for 129 Euro in the Poco Onlineshop. The model with 4 GByte RAM and 128 GByte memory costs 169 Euro as a regular model, during the flash sale it is available for 149 Euro. According to Poco, sales in Germany will officially start on December 2.
