Roborock Q Revo comes with rotating mops

The Q-series from Roborock is actually considered an economy version of the popular S-series. However, the Chinese manufacturer seems to take a different approach with the Roborock Q Revo. After all, the model, which is only available in the US so far, does not rely on a vibrating mop plate. Instead, the vacuum-mopping robot is equipped with two rotating mops.

Roborock Q Revo chases the competition

In the field of robots that not only vacuum your home floors, but also mop them, a lot has happened in recent months. For example, more and more manufacturers no longer rely on a classic mopping surface. To achieve greater effectiveness and better cleaning results, two rotating mops are being used more and more frequently. Models such as the Dreame L10s Ultra (test) or the Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI (test) show how well this works in practice. The one-time industry leader Roborock has come under increasing pressure from the new trend. After all, it was its comparatively great mopping performance in particular that set smart household helpers like the Roborock S7 (test) apart from the competition. But while Ecovacs and Dreame now rely on mops, Roborock still relies on now-almost-obsolete mopping technology for its latest flagship in the form of the S8 Pro Ultra (test).

A look at the Roborock Q Revo makes it clear that this could change in the future. The smart household helper also offers suction and mopping functions in one. However, instead of the vibrating mop plate, two mops are also used here, which are supposed to achieve good cleaning results through fast rotating movements. Not only the speed of 200 revolutions per minute sounds promising. On top of that, the Roborock Q Revo is able to lift the two mops. This prevents carpets from getting wet. Thus, the robotic vacuum cleaner does not simply go around the carpet like an X1 OMNI does, for example. Instead, it can remove dust and dirt from them in the same cleaning cycle.

Practical base station

Meanwhile, Roborock’s Q series is not new. Rather, the manufacturer has been selling its mid-range models under the Q sign for quite some time. The Q7 Max+ (test) already made it clear that they are simply slightly slimmed-down variants of the S models. However, things seem to be different with the Roborock Q Revo. It feels more like a field study in which the company wants to test its own mops so that it can possibly install them in the Roborock S9. By the way, the Q Revo also comes with a matching base station. Here, the two mops are rinsed vigorously at regular intervals so that they do not spread the dirt throughout the entire apartment.

To prevent the formation of bacteria and thus bad odors, the base station dries the two wiping pads with 45-degree hot air after each cleaning session is completed. Roborock wants to fall back on its solid rubber solution for the main brush, which should especially please pet owners since no hair gets tangled here. A suction power of a proud 5,500 pascals promises to suck up even the smallest dust particles. The Roborock Q Revo also follows familiar paths when it comes to navigation. The manufacturer once again relies on laser navigation with the help of LiDAR technology. This enables the best orientation even in absolute darkness.

Price and availability

When and whether the Roborock Q Revo will also be launched in our climes is still unknown. What is certain, however, is the release in the USA. There, the vacuuming and mopping robot is now available at an MSRP of $899.99. However, the manufacturer is offering a discount campaign where you can secure the promising smart household helper for 225.00 US dollars less. We can only hope that the launch in the USA will be positive. Then it would be surprising if Roborock does not launch its model with two rotating mops here as well.
