For this reason, the company is now launching the Speedport Pro Plus, a special router that is supposed to meet gaming demands. The gaming edition is supposed to convince with an impressive speed first and foremost.
Only the best for gamers
In addition to stability, the speed of the Internet connection naturally plays a major role when gaming. Thanks to state-of-the-art WiFi 6 and a total of 12 antennas, the Speedport Pro Plus is supposed to enable a maximum Internet speed of up to 9,700 Mbps – wirelessly. The lush performance of the gaming router is said to be due to the integrated powerful processor, among other things.
Stable and fast WLAN connection
To justify the additional name “Gaming Edition”, Telekom has also given its powerful WLAN router some exciting features. The WLAN quality in particular is supposed to meet the typical demands of gamers. The Speedport Pro Plus relies on an individual SSID that is based on the router’s internal Wi-Fi module. But what does this entail? If you connect your PC or console to the gaming router, they receive a wireless connection that is specifically created for gaming and is independent of smartphones and the like. After all, your gaming setup needs the most WLAN power.
This ensures that your roommates can watch Netflix or listen to Spotify without any problems and without negatively affecting your WLAN quality when gaming. But not only your gaming peripherals can benefit from the fast WLAN. Any device that supports the current Wi-Fi standards Wifi 5 or Wifi 6 can connect to the router via a 5 GHz connection. However, your console or PC should be near the router to benefit from the special WLAN connection. A “passing on” via mesh products is not possible.
Convincing even with cable
But just because this is a WLAN router, it by no means means that you can only establish an Internet connection wirelessly. If you prefer to rely on a classic wired connection via LAN, you can do that as well. The router offers you the possibility to use any connections that are suitable for Telekom products. Starting with VDSL, SuperVectoring and fiber optics, the Speedport Pro Plus supports all common connections. But the router also scores with practical features apart from the Internet. For example, the two integrated USB 3.0 ports are perfect for charging your gamepad batteries.
We also find it practical that Telekom has integrated the option to perform a ping test ex-works. You can use this to check the latencies and download/upload speeds. Telekom also has a cool product in the pipeline with the looks. As it should be for gaming hardware, a suitable RGB illumination should not be missing. The integrated “Ambient Light” skillfully puts the Speedport Pro Plus in the spotlight. Thus, the gaming edition is also suitable as a chic enrichment of your desk.

In particular, the Gaming Edition was tested for both streaming and gaming and perfected based on the results. Thus, the Speedport Pro Plus should even be suitable for gaming professionals. A RRP of 399.99 Euros is a steep price, but it is certainly worth the fast and stable Internet for many members of the gaming community.
