Synology DiskStation DS223 launches in Germany

Synology has introduced the DiskStation DS223, a new centralized data storage (NAS) that is designed to facilitate location-independent file management. The device with two drive bays and a storage capacity of up to 36 TB is intended for both professional and private contexts.

Centralized storage with location-independent access

The new DiskStation DS223 acts as a centralized storage space that can be accessed from anywhere via the Internet. This is a particular advantage for people or organizations that use multiple devices. Files no longer have to be laboriously sent back and forth or transferred via USB stick. This makes file management more efficient, which saves time and ultimately costs.

With the QuickConnect feature, the DiskStation can be accessed through any web browser. Furthermore, it is possible to use the DS223 as edge storage. Thanks to Windows AD and LDAP connectivity, it can be easily integrated into the existing network infrastructure.

The storage capacity of the DiskStation DS223 is up to 36 TB. The device is also equipped with functions for synchronizing data with other devices. For example, it is possible to create real-time backups or automatically save photos taken with a cell phone to the storage device. Scheduled backups at regular intervals can also be set. This ensures that the data is safe and will not be lost even in the event of technical errors or attacks.

Private Cloud with DiskStation DS223

Data stored on the DiskStation DS223 can also be shared with other people. For this, there is an option to set up and share a private cloud. With the cloud sync function, the private cloud can be synchronized with data stored with other cloud service providers. Who can access which data can be set individually. For example, photos and videos can be shared with acquaintances and work documents with colleagues.

Support for video surveillance

The DiskStation DS223 is also equipped with a video surveillance function. Thus, it is compatible with more than 8,300 surveillance cameras. Recordings made with these cameras can be stored on the DiskStation and thus accessed regardless of location. This ensures that sensitive data is stored locally and not on the servers of large companies – and remains accessible at all times.
