With the Synology RT6600ax, the NAS specialists are launching an exciting new tri-band Wi-Fi 6 router that is supposed to provide ultra-fast and secure Wi-Fi and is equipped with a quad-core processor with a 1.8 GHz clock speed.
The Synology RT6600ax features
The new Synology RT6600ax marks the top model in the NAS specialist’s router lineup. It masters the current WLAN standard Wi-Fi 6 (WLAN-ax) and comes with three WLAN radio units as a tri-band device.
It achieves up to 600 MB/s in the 2.4 GHz band, 1,200 MB/s in the first 5 GHz band and 4,800 MB/s in the second 5 GHz band. It also already supports the new 5.9 GHz band for more reliable fast networks by using freer 80 and 160 MHz channels.
Also offered are three Gigabit LAN ports for up to 1,000 MB/s. The 2.5GbE port, configurable for WAN or LAN use, supports super-fast Internet connections or high-performance devices.
Features of the RT6600ax include a quad-core CPU with 1.8 GHz clock speed and 1 GB of RAM. With the help of a data flow control, maximum bandwidths can be set for all devices in the network. Alternatively, the fastest possible frequency is always selected thanks to band steering.
Secure and user-friendly software
The Synology Router Manager (SRM) operating system also provides a high level of security. It allows the creation of up to five dedicated networks and 15 Wi-Fi SSIDs to which devices can be distributed.
Networks can be isolated or configured with one-way access rules to restrict connections to and from vulnerable devices. In addition, parental controls can be set to block certain websites and content and restrict Internet hours. A VPN function is also offered.
The router and Internet traffic can also be controlled on the go via a smartphone app. Thanks to VLAN tagging, the Synology RT6600ax can also be integrated into router, access point and mesh configurations with full VLAN support.
