The most important TP-Link innovations from CES 2023

Smart home specialist TP-Link also presented numerous innovations to the public at CES 2023. Among them are the manufacturer’s first high-performance WiFi 7 products.

TP-Link novelties: Wi-Fi 7 goes full throttle

Wi-Fi 7 was a hot topic at CES 2023. After Qualcomm already unveiled the new networking standard in May 2022 and MSI showed new routers with the standard at the show, TP-Link is now jumping on the bandwagon.

Among them is the Archer BE900 with quad-band WiFi 7 speeds of up to 24 Gbps and a brand-new design. Twelve optimally positioned internal antennas ensure the best possible reception and perfect coverage. Two 5 GHz bands bring the high speed to even more devices.

The brand new 6 GHz band also offers exceptional bandwidth and congestion-free channels. In addition, the BE900 has two 10G WAN/LAN ports, one RJ45 port and one RJ45/SFP+ combo port for flexible support for fiber and copper connections. In addition, there are four 2.5 Gbit LAN ports and one USB port.

The Archer BE800 is an EasyMesh-compatible tri-band WiFi 7 router with up to 19 Gbps WiFi, equipped with an LED screen, two 10G ports and four 2.5G ports. The Archer BE550, on the other hand, is another tri-band WiFi 7 router, but with speeds of up to 9.3 Gbps, five 2.5G ports and EasyMesh compatibility.

With the TP-Link Archer GE800, you can also expect a gaming router with Wi-Fi 7 that realizes speeds of 18 Gbps. The GE800 is powered by the latest 2.2GHz quad-core CPU and a powerful Wi-Fi chipset to pull off strong performance even under heavy network load. In addition, the model is equipped with two 10G ports and two 2.5G ports.

New smart home products

Among TP-Link’s new products from CES 2023 are, of course, numerous smart-home products from its Tapo and Kasa sub-brands. To improve compatibility, the manufacturer has also opened its ecosystem to the new industry standard Matter and was one of the first companies to announce Matter 1.0 support.

For example, it showcased the RV30C Slim vacuum cleaner robot, which combines performance and efficiency with its MagSlim LiDAR navigation technology. With its compact mini DTOF LiDAR sensor, the RV30C Slim is the thinnest LiDAR navigation robot on the market and is said to be able to clean areas where normal robot vacuum cleaners cannot reach.

The RV70 OMNI was also unveiled. It offers an all-around omnistation and triple-AI technology. TP-Link takes a big step forward with the introduction of the brand new Homebase Tapo H900. Tapo H900 is a home connection center that supports devices based on WiFi, Sub-G, Bluetooth, Matter, Thread and other protocols. With it, you can conveniently manage all Tapo smart home devices and set them up with customized scenes.

Tapo’s next-generation outdoor smart home security camera, the C325WB, was also on display. It features a super-iris lens and superior sensor that captures images with more natural colors and vivid details, even in low-light conditions. Also represented among TP-Link’s new products was the 2K QHD Tapo C425 Outdoor Security WiFi Camera, which comes with a 10,000 mAh battery and can be magnetically attached anywhere.

The upcoming Tapo D660 dual-video doorbell, on the other hand, shows how TP-Link plans to solve users’ problems in real-world application scenarios. With a downward-facing camera and an algorithm chip, the D660 provides seamless surveillance, which should benefit security.

Tapo is also launching a smart video door lock that won the CES 2023 Innovation Award. The smart video door lock is a 3-in-1 device that functions as a door lock, doorbell and outdoor security camera.

Matter Products

TP-Link’s first Matter-certified products will also be unveiled at CES, including smart plugs, smart switches, smart outlet extenders and smart bulbs. The Tapo P125M Mini Smart Plug features a particularly compact design that allows two plugs to be plugged into the same outlet, while the Kasa KP125M supports real-time monitoring of energy consumption.

The Tapo S505D Smart Dimmer Switch allows users to dim and brighten their lamps in various ways. Tapo P306 Smart WiFi Outlet Extender has 3 smart AC outlets, 3 AC sockets and 3 USB ports and is compatible with Matter protocol.

The Matter-certified Tapo L535E Multicolor Smart Light Bulb produces up to 1,100 lumens of white brightness and is dimmable from 100% to 1%. Following the previously released Tapo T100 Smart Contact Sensor and Tapo T110 Smart Motion Sensor, TP-Link is now introducing the new Tapo T300 and Tapo T315 smart sensors.

TP-Link Omada: Wi-Fi 7 access points for enterprises

Omada, a networking solution for businesses, is also among TP-Link’s new products. Omada EAP780 and Omada EAP770 highlight two Wi-Fi 7 access points. The Omada EAP780 is a future-proof tri-band Wi-Fi 7 business access point with up to 22 Gbps speed and two 10G PoE++ ports, and is particularly suitable for larger cities and other densely populated environments.

The EAP780 relies on the new 6 GHz band, 320 MHz bandwidth and 4K QAM, and is said to provide exceptionally high data throughput. Omada EAP770 is a state-of-the-art tri-band WiFi 7 business access point with speeds of up to 11 Gbps. It also features a 10G PoE port and a wider 6 GHz band.

Pricing and Availability

The manufacturer has not yet announced pricing and availability for TP-Link’s new products at CES 2023, but these should follow as soon as the market launch approaches.
