Wiko Y52 and Y82: Two new affordable smartphones unveiled

Manufacturer Wiko has introduced two inexpensive new smartphones with the Y52 and Y82, which are primarily aimed at beginners. The Wiko Y52 already retails for less than 70 Euros.

Wiko Y52: Small and inexpensive

The manufacturer relies on a compact design for the Wiko Y52. The smartphone offers a 5-inch display (12.7 cm), which is equipped with a TN panel. It has a FWVGA+ resolution (480 x 854 pixels), displays 16.7 million colors and has a pixel density of 196 PPI.

With dimensions of 143.2 x 73.5 x 10.2 mm and a weight of only 153 grams, the Y52 is extremely compact. It is equipped with a 2,020 mAh battery and relies on a Unisoc SC9832E quad-core SoC with a clock rate of 1.4 GHz. The Mali T820 is used as the graphics unit.

Wiko’s Y52 is dual-SIM capable and offers room for two nano-SIMs. It is also possible to expand the storage via micro-SD with up to 64 GB. 1 GB of working memory and 16 GB of system memory are available.

There is also a 3.5 mm jack input, a micro-USB port, Bluetooth 4.2, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN (2.4 GHz) and 4G support. The camera of the Wiko Y52 resolves with 5 megapixels, videos are possible in 720p with 30 frames per second. Filters and features like Face Beauty, Translations, Portrait are also available. The front camera takes selfies in VGA resolution.

Wiko Y82: 6.1 inches and octa-core processor

The Wiko Y82, on the other hand, is much better equipped. The manufacturer relies on a 6.1-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution (720 x 1560) and a pixel density of 282 PPI. The Android 11-equipped smartphone is powered by a Unisoc SC9863A octa-core SoC with a clock rate of 1.6 GHz, which is supported by 3 GB of working memory and 32 GB of internal storage.

Wiko’s Y82 can also be expanded by up to 256 GB via microSD. Two nano-SIM slots are also available. The smartphone measures 155.5 x 73.3 x 9.3 mm and weighs 181 grams.

Wiko installs a 3600 mAh Li-Ion battery that is even replaceable. A 3.5 mm jack, micro-USB, Bluetooth 4.2 and WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4 GHz are also available.

The front camera of the Y82 has a resolution of 5 megapixels, the main camera 13 megapixels. Face Beauty, Portrait, Night Mode, Google Lens for translations and HDR are also available, videos are possible in 720p with 30 FPS.

Prices and availability

The Wiko Y52 is available in stores now at an MSRP of 69.99 euros. The Wiko Y82 will follow later, but the manufacturer has not yet announced the price.
