Xiaomi 12 Lite: Smartphone with 108 MP camera launches for around 450 euros

Growth in the Xiaomi 12 series. With the new Xiaomi 12 Lite, the manufacturer has unveiled a brand new mid-range smartphone that attracts attention from a technical point of view with a 108 MP main camera, a 120 Hz AMOLED display and a charging speed of 67 watts for around 450 euros.

Xiaomi 12 Lite in detail

Lately, manufacturer Xiaomi has been showing quite a bit of activity. At the end of June, they officially presented various novelties from their own portfolio, such as the Book S 12.4 or the Smart Band 7. Last week, they presented the 12 S Ultra, a camera flagship that has a lot going for it.

The new Xiaomi 12 Lite, on the other hand, is more dignified, since the smartphone of the Xiaomi 12 series is positioned in the Android mid-range. However, that does not mean that the configuration is boring.

The Lite has a 6.55-inch AMOLED display and offers a first-class viewing experience with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The TrueColor display can display 68 billion colors and delivers rich and accurate colors. A refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz provide an even smoother experience.

With a slim design of 7.29 millimeters and a weight of only 173 grams, the smartphone is said to fit comfortably in the hand. “The back features a matte gradient color that dances in the light,” promises the manufacturer. The color stretches all the way over the flat edges for a simple yet classy aesthetic. The device is offered in three colors: Lite Green, Lite Pink and Black.

5G performance and 67-watt charging speed

The Xiaomi 12 Lite is equipped with a Snapdragon 778G-8 core chipset, which is supported by 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 system storage. Unfortunately, the latter cannot be expanded.

In return, the smartphone offers 5G connectivity, fast Wi-Fi 6 Bluetooth 5.2. and even NFC. Other features include stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio technology, which is supposed to provide an impressive sound.

The battery comes in at a capacity of 4,300 mAh and is said to be able to last the whole day. Thanks to 67W Turbo Charging, the battery is charged to 100 percent via USB-C in just 41 minutes. Wireless charging on the other hand is not supported.

Strong Camera Setup

The Xiaomi 12 Lite features a triple camera setup on the back. The setup relies on a 108MP main camera with a large HM2 sensor (f/1.88 aperture), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2, 120-degree field of view) and a 2MP macro camera (f/2.4, 4 cm focus distance).

Combined with eye-tracking focus and motion detection turned on, the camera setup ensures better image sharpness and quality.

On the front, the manufacturer installs a 32 MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.45, which is housed in a central punch hole. The front camera features a GD2 sensor and autofocus capabilities that enable ultra-sharp selfies with improved clarity and color.

For social media fans, the 12 Lite also offers some exciting additional features. These include Magic Cutout, a professional editor that automatically recognizes people, cats and dogs and cuts them out for image editing, Vlog mode with 19 templates for quickly creating vlogs in different styles, and other features like One-Click AI Cinema.
