XMG Fusion 15 E24 and Core 15 M24 Presented With Powerful Features

Model update at XMG. Two new 15-inch gaming notebooks ring in the 2024 model year with the designation E24. The XMG Fusion 15 E24 and the XMG Core 15 M24 will be the first of these, both of which come with a strong feature set and, for the first time, 15.3-inch displays in 16:10 format. For May, the manufacturer is also promising a completely redesigned XMG Neo 16, whose predecessor already impressed in our test last fall.

The XMG Fusion 15 E24 and XMG Core 15 M24 in detail

Visually, the two gaming laptops XMG Fusion 15 E24 and XMG Core 15 M24 hardly differ from each other. Both laptops have a simple and elegant chassis with a black anodized aluminium casing.

The dimensions of 342.5 mm x 245 mm x 21.9 mm are also identical, although at 2.1 kg, the new XMF Fusion 15 weighs slightly more than its 2.0 kg sibling. We have already been able to see for ourselves several times in tests that the design and workmanship of the XMG notebooks are impressive.

Most recently, for example, in the case of the slightly larger XMG Core 16 L23 with a 16-inch QHD display. Not least thanks to the slightly smaller display, the 15-series notebooks are naturally somewhat more manageable and lighter.

We can also expect an exciting innovation with the displays, as both gaming notebooks come with a 15.3-inch IPS panel in 16:10 format and a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. The panels offer a refresh rate of 240 Hertz, a brightness of 500 cd/m² and 100% sRGB color space coverage.

In addition to narrow display bezels, both notebooks feature a Windows Hello-compatible dual-sensor webcam with physical webcam cover and a MUX switch for permanent access to the powerful GPU.

XMG Fusion 15 and Core 15: Intel or AMD?

Up to this point, the XMG Fusion 15 E24 and XMG Core 15 M24 have a lot in common. Of course, there are also a number of differences – and not just in the model name. The main difference is the processor.

The XMG Fusion 15 E24 relies on Intel and is equipped with a top-of-the-range Core i9-14900HX and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070. The cheaper entry-level configuration relies on a Core i7-14650HX and RTX 4060.

On the other hand, the XMG Core 15 M24 is at home in the red AMD camp. Here, the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS and a GeForce RTX 4060 are used, including the advanced AI acceleration functions integrated into the CPU in the form of AMD Ryzen AI.

There are also differences in the design of the cooling system. Both notebooks have four air outlets with copper heat sinks placed in front of them. Fresh air is supplied via the underside as well as via the keyboard. In conjunction with the Honeywell PTM7958 thermal pads, both notebooks should be able to exploit the maximum graphics performance specified by NVIDIA:

With the CPU, the Core 15 can use 80 watts permanently, and even 90 watts at its peak. The XMG Fusion 15 is even capable of 105 watts and up to 140 watts at peak performance. Combining the CPU and GPU, both laptops have a permanent TDP of 160 watts.

Modern connections and equipment

Otherwise, both XMG gaming laptops score points with a wide selection of modern connections. The XMG Fusion 15 E24 relies on Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 with support for charging via a USB-C charger with up to 100 watts and DisplayPort function, HDMI 2.1, Gigabit Ethernet, USB-C 3.2 Gen1, three USB-A 3.2 slots, an SD card reader for full-format memory cards and a 2-in-1 audio slot for headsets
Headsets.

The XMG Core 15 M25 is only slightly different. It has the same connectivity with two exceptions: The Thunderbolt 4 port is replaced by a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port that is also PowerDelivery and DisplayPort capable. However, the laptop offers an additional Mini DisplayPort 1.4 with dGPU connection.

Both notebooks also rely on fast DDR5 RAM (up to 96 GB for the Core 15, up to 64 GB for the Fusion 15), as well as two M.2 slots in the PCIe 4.0 standard including separate heat shields
and thermal pads.

A 99.8 Wh battery is also used, which is charged with a 280 watt power supply in the case of the Fusuon 15 and a 240 watt power supply in the case of the Core 15. In the entry-level configuration of the XMG Core 15 M24, the notebook is also available with an 80 Wh battery.

Both notebooks can be customized on a software basis via the XMG Control Center. CPU and GPU power limits can be adjusted as well as performance profiles and fan curves. “Additional CPU undervolting and RAM tuning (XMP profiles, adjustments to timings and voltages) is an exclusive feature of the Intel HX platform and therefore reserved for the XMG FUSION 15,” reveals the manufacturer.

Prices and availability

As always, the two gaming notebooks XMG Fusion 15 E24 and the XMG Core 15 M24 are freely configurable at bestware and can be pre-ordered with immediate effect. The new Fusion 15 E24 comes with an Intel Core i7-14650HX, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, 16 (2x 8) GB DDR5-5600 RAM and a 500 GB SSD and starts at €1,599.

The XMG Core 15 M24 is slightly cheaper and can be configured with a Ryzen 7 8845HS, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 and an 80 Wh battery from €1,399. The Fusion 15 is expected to be delivered from the end of March 2024, with the XMG Core 15 following in mid-April.
