Yamaha TW-E7B and TW-ES5A: New in-ear headphones come with True Sound

With the models Yamaha TW-E7B and TW-ES5A, the manufacturer has introduced two new wireless in-ear headphones that want to attract attention especially with the “True Sound”. In addition, there are technologies such as Listening Care or the advanced Advanced Active Noise Cancelling (ANC).

Yamaha TW-E7B: The manufacturer’s new in-ear flagship

With the new top model Yamaha TW-E7B, the tradition-rich company promises a unique sound. This is made possible by exceptionally large, dynamic 10.0-millimeter drivers with a specially coated membrane, which produce a dynamic sound particularly responsive.

The case of the small earbuds was also specially designed to improve the acoustics. The in-ears transmit wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.2 and support Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive Codec, in addition to SBC and AAC.

The Earbuds themselves last for 6 hours and get an additional 16 hours of battery life in combination with the case. Charging is via USB Type-C. Advanced ANC provides advanced noise cancellation and should not affect the sound quality.

Yamaha’s Listening Opzimizer also uses the YPAO room correction experience from the manufacturer’s AV receivers as well as network receivers, and applies it to make optional sound adjustments for the varying conditions of the auditory canals. And that even in real time. Here, the sound is tested over a period of five seconds and the acoustics are adjusted accordingly. The Earbuds Yamaha TW-E7B themselves are IPX5 certified and thus protected against sweat and splashing water.

Yamaha TW-ES5A as a sports companion

For athletes, on the other hand, the Yamaha TW-ES5A are supposed to be particularly well suited. They turn out particularly compact, also rely on Bluetooth 5.2 and the audio codecs Qualcomm aptX Adaptive Audio, AAC and SBC. Listening Care is also offered.

The earbuds are even IPX7 protected and thus waterproof, which means they can be easily cleaned under water when dirty. The newly developed fit, together with a total of five different ear tips and four interchangeable fins, ensures a very good fit.

The TW-ES5A’s battery life is particularly impressive, with up to 9 hours of battery life, plus another 25 hours in the charging case. On the other hand, the model does not seem to offer active noise cancellation.

Listening Care equals out the sound at low volume

A lower volume usually results in certain frequencies being perceived less by the human ear. However, so that music doesn’t have to be turned up louder to hear the full range of frequencies, Yamaha has integrated its proprietary Listening Care technology into both the TW-E7B and TW-ES5A in-ears.

As an intelligent equalizer setting, the technology is thus intended to provide a balanced, rich sound even at low volumes. This emphasizes high and low frequencies while protecting the hearing. The TW-E7B even uses Advanced Listening Care, which also takes into account the music’s dynamic range, recording level and background noise.

True Sound, Microphones and Gaming Mode

True Sound is said to ensure that the in-ears reproduce exactly the sound that the artists intended. In doing so, even the subtlest nuances and moods are said to be heard with the Yamaha TW-E7B and ES5A.

The microphones have been further optimized compared to the TW-E5B and now support Qualcomm cVc (Clear Voice Capture) technology that simultaneously suppresses noise and echoes to improve voice quality. The versatile earbuds also feature a gaming mode, which is not only responsible for low latency in games, but also enables playback of videos and movies without major delay in picture and sound.

Both in-ear models can be further customized on iOS and Android with the free Headphone Control app. Here, for example, an equalizer, quick settings for the transparency mode (Ambient Sound), Listening Care and other Yamaha technologies are available. Both in-ear headphones are operated with tactile buttons. In addition, the headphones can also be used to activate the voice assistants Siri and Google Assistant.

Prices and availability

The two in-ear headphones are expected to be available in stores in July or August. The Yamaha TW-E7B in-ears will be available in black, white, blue and beige, while the Yamaha TW-ES5A will be available in black, white, pink, blue and green. Starting at an MSRP of 179.00 euros for the TW-ES5A, or 269.00 euros for the TW-E7B.
