With the ZTE Blade V40s, the manufacturer has a budget smartphone on offer that complements the Blade 40 series introduced in March 2022. It relies on a strong 50-megapixel main camera, Android 12, and modern features.
The ZTE Blade V40s in detail
163.5 mm x 75.8 mm x 7.6 mm is the size of the ZTE Blade V40s and it weighs 184.1 grams. Visually, the inexpensive smartphone reminds a bit of the iPhone 14 Pro (our review), which is mainly due to the flattened edges.
In addition, the smartphone wants to score with a pleasantly grippy back and a high-quality build, and it fits very well in the hand with its thickness of only 7.6 mm.
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) that offers a color depth of 8 bits and a pixel density of 395 ppi. The DCI-P3 color space is covered by a full 100 percent, while the display is protected by a specially hardened protective glass called Panda Glass NM228.
On the back, around the main camera module, there is a ring-shaped notification LED called Breating Light. When notifications or calls are received, the light starts to breathe in color. Up to six different color configurations are available for calls alone.
SoC, battery and cameras
When it comes to the chipset, the ZTE Blade V40s relies on a T618 processor that combines two A75 processing cores (2.0 GHz) with six A55 cores (2.0 GHz). In addition, there is 4 GB of working memory, which can dynamically borrow two additional GB of RAM from the 128 GB system memory.
The latter can also be expanded by up to one terabyte via micoSD card. The Blade V40s’ battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh and can be charged quickly with 22.5 watts.
In addition, there is an exciting triple camera setup that consists of a 50 MP main camera, a 5 MP macro camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. The front camera in a center punch hole resolves at 8 megapixels.
Android 12 including MiFavor UI is used as the operating system, and the smartphone is offered in black or blue color schemes.
